The Tunisian American Day-2014

On Saturday May, 2014 our organization celebrated the tenth annual Tunisian-American Day. This year's event took place at the campus of the prestigious University of California at Berkeley. Among the guests were: the ambassador of Tunisia to the United States, H. E. Mhamed Ezzine Chlaifa, several local dignitaries as well as some faculty from UC Berkeley.

The capacity crowd was treated to a traditional Couscous dinner and live music entertainment, both Tunisian and American.

The highlight of the evening was, of course, the presentation of the Ibn Khaldun Award to this year's honoree, Dr. Bessam Loukil who delivered a very inspiring acceptance speech. There was also the presentation of the Aboulkacem Chebbi Student of the Year recognition by non other than the beautiful and talented Wahiba Arres, Miss Tunisia for 2014. The beauty queen, who had graciously accepted our invitation to be part of our event,

made the trip from Tunis to San Francisco two days earlier, in the company of Mrs Aida Antar, president of the Cultural and Artistic Association, TEJ.

Set Sail For Tunisia

Until 2011, Tunisian tourism accounted for 7% of GDP and provided close to 12% of Tunisia's total employment, and more than 20% of the country's revenues in vital foreign currency. Now, that the political situation of the last three years was stabilized, it is time for European and American tourists (and investors) to "set sail for Tunisia"
