The 2014 Ibn Khaldun Honoree

Dr. Bassem Loukil
  
The Ibn Khaldun Award Steering Commitee had selected U.S.-educated businessman Bassem Loukil to be the recipient of the 2014 Ibn Khaldun Award. 
 
The recognition will take place during a special ceremony at the tenth annual Tunisian-American Day celebration.
 
Dr. Loukil holds a Bachelor in Computer Science, an  MBA in International Finance and a PhD in Industrial Management from Georgia State University.
 
He is currently the CEO of the Groupe Loukil, a highly diversified company operating in Tunisia and 13 other countries. Its activities range from agriculture to heavy industry through the information
technology and communication, business environment, international
trade, engineering and consulting.
 
In addition, Dr. Loukil was a founding member of several Civil Society entities such as the US-Tunisia Business Council, the Tunisian-American Chamber of Commerce, as well as other fraternal and philanthropic organizations.

Tunisia's Independence Day

 

March 20th, 2014 marks the fifty eighth anniversary of Tunisia's independence from France.
 
The independence was the result of a half century long nationalist movement that started in 1907 and got re-energized in 1934 under the leadership of Habib Bourguiba who became the president of the new republic in 1957.

Citing Tunisia's beaches, arheological sites and Sahara, this great article, published in the January 2014 issue of Condé Nast travel magazine considers Tunisia as "The Next Big Travel Destination".
 2014 "Tunisia Connect"  
On February 12th 2014, TCC secretary general Olfa Hamdi, who is an independent project management specialist and international mediator, conducted the first in a series of seminars co-programmed by the Tunisian Community Center and CEPEX.

The seminar's themes were:
1) Best Practices of interaction with international companies
2) Mediation and Arbitration in resolving business international disputes.

The event took place at The House of Exporter in Tunis and attracted business owners, lawyers, public officials as well as commercial attachés from foreign embassies. It received
