The Tunisian Ambassador to the United States

H.E. M'hamed Ezzine Chelaifa
  
Since December 1st, 2013, H.E. M'Hamed Ezzine Chelaifa was serving as Tunisia's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United States, and he is no stranger to Washington, having served there several times between 1996 and 2000 as both Chief of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires.
  
Amb. Chelaifa is a career diplomat par excellence: at the young age of 28, he joined the Department of International Organization at the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since then, he held a variety of  important posts within the Foreign Ministry, including Ambassador to several African countries, the United Kingdom, Australia and to the Kingdom of Spain from which he received the recognition of "Commander of Civil Merit".
  
Amb. Chelaifa is fluent in Arabic, French, Spanish and English.  He holds a Bachelor degree in Political Sciences, a Master's in International Law and a PhD in Economic Sciences from the french University of Aix-en-Provence.
  
Amb. Chelaifa is a native of Mahdia. He is married and has two Children.

Every year, the  Tunisian Government had to borrow about $5 billion in order to pay off about $4 billion on its foreign debt!

  

Please, sign and circulate this Petition intended to focus the attention of Civil Society and Governments to the issue of Tunisia's mortgaging if its economic future.

As part of its African Lecture Series, "La Maison Francaise" at Rochester's Nazareth College organized two events:
-On February 28: "Tunisian Appreciation Night". A Tunisian dinner prepared by Marwen and Sultan, and the French Club team (Sarah, Robert, Janae, Allison and Alexis).
 
-On February 30th: "Reflections on the Arab Spring: Tunisian Perspectives", a video presentation and roundtable discusion. It was moderated by Dr. Mireille Le Breton, Director of The French House and included representatives from the Tunisian Community Center's Student Federation and Ibn Khaldun Institute.

All Civil Society entities in the United States that are interested in outreach to Tunisia are invited to JOIN the Coalition that currently includes members from the Ibn Khaldun Institute and the Friends-Of-Tunisia. The purpose of the Coalition is to support and  work with the Congressional Tunisia Caucus
