After months of diligent planning, the Tunisian Community Center hosted its eight annual Tunisian-American Day celebration on May 26, 2012 at the prestigious University of Nevada at Las Vegas.

As in previous years, members of the Tunisian-American community and their friends came from all corners of the United States and from across the Atlantic...From Tunisia, to be precise.

They came to celebrate the accomplishments of the event's awardees: distinguished businessman Ferid Abbas and University of Texas student Olfa Hamdi.

The guests were treated to a piano concert performance by Kimball Gallagher and to Tunisian music and songs by the talented Safa Dahan.

When the Hafla came to an end, the guests left with memories of made or renewed friendships. They, also, left with great memories of an inspiring keynote address by U.N. diplomat Dr Salah Bourjini and a heart-stirring speech by Mr Ferid Abbas. ...Not to mention the great experience of discovering all that Las Vegas has to offer.

This Open Letter by Mondher Smida, is an excellent discussion starter about this most important topic.
