Online Precision Ag Lessons

With crop production costs at record highs, you must get the most out of every bag of seed, every jug of crop protection product and every tank of fuel. It is essential that you adopt Precision Agriculture technology to get the highest return out of the money you spend to make a crop.

To help learn more about how you can use Precision Ag, take a look at this video series of training lessons by Dr. John P. Fulton, Auburn Extension specialist, on Precision Agriculture, which can be found by clicking here.

NRCS Soil Health Campaign

Two years ago, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service officially launched the "Unlock the Secrets in the Soil," a soil health education and awareness effort.

An increasing number of farmers and stakeholder groups are recognizing the many benefits of improving the health of our nation's soil and are working to help spread the word and the knowledge. To hear from two Florida farmers, Kirk Brock and Dexter Gilbert, working to improve soil health, click here.

A Reminder About Seed Laws

A jury recently awarded AGSouth Genetics, LLC and the University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc. (UGARF) a victory in a case against Georgia Farm Services, LLC, a supplier of bulk fertilizer, chemicals and seed, for violating a federal law protecting plant varieties.

This case is a good reminder to producers that ignorance of Plant Variety Protection and patent laws is not a defense and violators can be taken to court. Farmers who are unsure about seed should look carefully at the bag before purchasing. A "designer bag," featuring the developer's logo and the PVPA patent notice, is more like to contain legal seed, while "brown-bagged" seed with no patent notice, certification tag or variety identification, is more likely to be illegal.
