Day 8 - Prayer for Lahore, the "Heart" of Pakistan
"The One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their King will pass through before them, the Lord at their head." (Micah 2:13)
Creator God, You see the beautiful buildings, culture, religion, education, and art that encompass the city of Lahore. You observe the myriads of people who seek knowledge and an under-standing into spiritual matters there. Layer upon layer of idolatry and mysticism over the years have prevented the people from entering into a life-giving relationship with You. The enemy has kept them in bondage to fear, hatred and oppression.
Lord, we ask that you would break open the gates that have prevented these precious people from entering into the life You have for them. We bind the spirit of deception and the activity of the "god of this world" who has "blinded the minds of the unbelieving." We ask that Your presence would pass through Lahore, leading people into victory over darkness and death.
We pray for Your church there to work in unity and to walk in a lifestyle of repentance, forgiveness and prayer. May they continually receive a baptism of Your love, so that they can know their identity in Christ. We ask that You will empower them to fearlessly share the good news of Christ with relentless love and signs and wonders.
We say to Lahore, "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace. In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you." (Isaiah 54:2, 13-14)
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
