Lower School
Qur'an Challenge - Friday, March 18
In an effort to continuously encourage our children to practice and review what they have learned over the course of the year, we will be holding our annual Quran Challenge this Friday, March 18. Students will be expected to recite suras from the 30th part of the Quran that have already been covered in their grade level curriculum. Recitation will take place during their regularly scheduled Islamic Studies time.
March Reading Madness
The Lower School is celebrating reading during the month of March. We started the month with a visit from author Diane Lang and her book signing on March 1. March 6 was Read Across America Day. In honor of Dr. Seuss, students came to school dressed in Cat in the Hat colors; red, white and black. Our older students had a shared reading experience with the younger students. Monday, March 11 was another author visit and book signing. Mariam Al-Kalby read her book The Apple Seed. This is the first book in a series she calls The Prophet Says. Wel look forward to future books authored by Mariam. Our Summer Reading safari was a big success on Thursday, March 14. We searched all over the Lower School campus, but, we could not find the elusive purple ele-rhino-saurus. However, he left a special treat for all those who completed their Summer Reading.
This Thursday and Friday, March 21- 22, students will be treated to a special guest reader during their library time. She will be sharing stories from the collection of one of her favorite authors, Bill Peet.
Author Visits - Books Available Online
For students who missed the opportunity to purchase Vulture Verses or The Apple Tree during the author visits this month, please note that both books are available online at Amazon.com at the links below:
