Makor Chaim Welcome Breakfast
On Wednesday, MTA welcomed four boys from Yeshivat Makor Chaim in Eretz Yisrael with a lavish breakfast for the whole Junior class. The breakfast included Dunkin Donuts, hashbrowns, and much more! The program began with a D'var Torah from the Menahel of Makor Chaim, Rabbi David Rabinovich, followed by a warm greeting from Rabbi Taubes. After this, the Makor Chaim boys brought out their guitars and taught a new song, along with Rabbi Mendelson, to the Juniors. To conclude, Seth Jacobs ('17) gave a D'var Torah and spoke about how everyone in MTA can gain from the four boys being here with us, as well as how they themselves can gain from being in MTA.
The Makor Chaim students are here for five weeks and have already started off with a bang. On Thursday, they brought out their guitars once again and led a Thursday afternoon Kumzits, or what they call "Likrat Shabbat" in their yeshiva, which helps everybody prepare for Shabbos. We are looking forward to the Makor Chaim boys enhancing the already amazing spirit in MTA over the next few weeks.

Mission To Washington
by Avraham Tsikhanovski ('16)
This past Wednesday, seven students from MTA joined YUPAC on the annual Yeshiva University lobbying trip to Washington, D.C. After a training session earlier in the week, everyone was ready to pitch to their congressmen the importance of the US-Israel relationship. After arriving at Washington, the delegation gathered in the AIPAC headquarters to hear lobbying advice from a seasoned AIPAC lobbyist.
The trip was a resounding success with everyone from the MTA delegation delivering their talking points with clarity and confidence. The day ended with a fascinating visit to the Israeli embassy in Washington where the entire YUPAC delegation heard from staffers at the embassy.
Although the bus ride was long, and sleep was compromised, everyone agreed that it was worth it. Special thank you to Mr. Avi Matanky for chaperoning the MTA Delegation and taking them on a spontaneous visit to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

Varsity Hockey Lions Fall On Senior Night
This past Wednesday night, the MTA Varsity Hockey Lions played the TABC Storm in the Lions' Den. The game was of crucial importance to the Lions' playoff hopes, and the Lions came out in the first period with much intensity. However, TABC was able to match the Lion's efforts and scored first period goals. Although the Lions fought hard to get back into the game, they could not overcome the early deficit and ended up with a loss.
As the last originally scheduled home game of the season, this game also served as "Senior Night," and the senior members of the team were recognized in a pre-game ceremony where they took a special picture with their coach; after the game, the graduating Seniors took pictures with their parents as well.
The Lions will look to regroup from the tough loss and resume their winning ways when they again play TABC on Saturday night in what should be a very exciting matchup. Fans are highly encouraged to attend the game, as the game will be of even greater importance to the Lions' hopes of making the playoffs. Free t-shirts will be given out, and a great game will undoubtedly ensue.

MTA Alumni in Eretz Yisrael Reunite
Over winter break, both Rabbi Taubes and Rabbi Shulman traveled to the various yeshivot in Eretz Yisrael to visit our many alumni currently studying there. While there, they delivered Shiurim and words of chizuk to the MTA graduates and others. "It was wonderful seeing how well our boys are doing. It brought me great nachas that in yeshiva after yeshiva, the rebbeim commented to me on how well prepared our alumni are for advanced Torah study," said Rabbi Shulman. Indeed, Rabbi Taubes likes to refer to this trip as his yearly "nachas trip." On Motzaei Shabbos, January 23rd, MTA hosted a special Melave Malka at the OU Center in Yerushalayim where the shana aleph and the shana bet students from MTA had the opportunity to reconnect, enjoying good food, divrei Torah, and "Lions for Life" spirit.

Thinking Ahead
Many of our students would love to begin to explore various career opportunities as they look towards the future. Parents who would be interested and/or willing to allow students to either intern at their place of work or shadow them on the job should please click here to let us know; our College Guidance Office will then work to pair up students and work oppotunities appropriately.
Many thanks!
