Makor Chaim Students Return To Israel

MTA Says Farewell To Makor Chaim

MTA Says Farewell To Makor Chaim Visitors

After over four incredible weeks at MTA, the four visiting Makor Chaim students returned to Eretz Yisrael this week. Enjoy the video above that recaps some of the amazing moments with them.

JV Basketball Falls In Semis in 3 OT

The JV Basketaball Lions headed to Riverdale to take on the SAR Sting this pastTuesday night in the playoff semi-finals. Coming off of an incredible buzzer beater victory over HAFTR last week, the Lions were ready for another victory.

The game featured back and forth action virtually the entire time. Quarter after quarter it was an even battle; although the Lions opened up a short lived fourth quarter lead, the Sting bounced right back to tie things up. A first overtime, then a second overtime - and still no winner was decided.

In the end, MTA lost by one point in the third overtime, disappointing the impressive MTA crowd who had come to cheer the Lions on in a road game.

Despite the loss, it was a great season and the MTA taem hopes to build on what they achieved this year towards even greater success next season.

70 For 70 Introduced This Week

"70 Days for 70 Years" is a unique new program that commemorates the horrible destruction of the Holocaust, which came to an end 70 years ago, by presenting 70 inspiring and thought-provoking essays by a wide variety of prominent writers in an easy to read format, which students and teachers go through on a day to day basis.

MTA choose to began their program this week so that Yom HaShoah will fall out in the middle of the program. This sends the important and poewerful message that as Jews, we must both focus on the past and continue to grow towards the future.

Rebbeim and teachers are incorporating the articles into their regular lessons, making the program relevant each day. By participating in this endeavor, MTA is joining with many people of all ages and backgrounds throughout the world who have likewise undertaken this worthy project.

Choir Competes In Annual Competition

by Jason Blatt ('15)

This past Wednesday night the MTA choir competed in the fifth annual V'ata Banim Shiru A Capella Competition, a program run by the Koby Mandell Foundation.  It was a fierce competition this year going up against HANC, Rambam Yeshiva and TABC, but even so, the MTA choir managed to place second on the rankings.  Performing David Ross's arrangement of Sala'am and Nishba by Chaim Moshe, MTA put on an incredible show and blew everyone away.  With much praise from the judges and the audience we are glad to have placed second in the competition.  To add to the excitement, it was a great pleasure to have Eli Rozenberg host the event, an MTA alumnus and past member of the MTA choir.

Although, we weren't able to get the four-peat, it was still a lot of fun and we're ready to regain the title of champion next year.
