MTA Learning Continues Over Thanksgiving Break
Over Thanksgiving, our students and rebbeim didn't let the snow and crazy winter weather keep them from learning Torah together. Our rebbeim gave shiurim in Monsey, Highland Park, Bergenfield, and West Hempstead over the extended weekend. Many talmidim came out for the shacharis, breakfast, and shiur in each of these communities. It was a wonderful opportunity for our talmidim and rebbeim to learn completely l'shmah - for the sake of Torah only. Click here to listen to Rabbi Green's shiur in Edison on The Kedushas HaYom of Chanukah: Enlightening Thoughts About the Festival of Lights.

Spirit Month: Mishmar Mash-up
Last night, our 10th and 11th graders joined together in what was called a "Mishmar Mash-up" in connection with MTA Spirit Month. Each of the students was paired up with a random chavrusa from the other grade and everyone learned the same mekoros about tefillah.
Additionally, to mark December 4th, on which we begin to say ותן טל ומטר, all students given a free can of Mountain Dew soda. At the end of the program, all students were treated to a wonderful shiur by Rabbi Tani Cohen and then we all davened Maariv together. It was wonderful to fill the Bais Medrash and to hear the kol Torah echoing throughout the room. This was one of many activities of MTA Spirit Month.

This past week, MTA students had the distinct honor of hearing some amazing stories from some incredible people. The Hatzioni club arranged for the entire school to have Israeli chayalim come and speak to the students in several different groups about their experiences in Tzahal, the IDF. The students heard heart-wrenching stories of sacrifice and how it feels to train in the army. Almost every one of these soldiers participated in Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, so we were able to get an inside look at how the army conducted the fighting this past summer. We would all like to say thank you to these heroic young men for defending our homeland and our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisrael.

Applied Science Club Hears From Daniel J. Gross, Esq.
Last week, the Applied Science Club hosted Mr. Daniel J. Gross, Esq., an Intellectual Property attorney at Myers Wolin, LLC. Mr.Gross presented an overview of IP law, providing the students with a basic understanding of copyrights, trademarks, and patents, among other related legal concepts. Approximately 60 students participated in the event, highlighting the interest that MTA students demonstrate in the areas of science, engineering, and entrepreneurship. Students really enjoyed learning about the intersection of these different fields and the relevance of IP law to so many aspects of our lives.
The Applied Science club would like to thank Mr. Harris Wolin of Myers Wolin for supporting this event by attending the lecture and sponsoring the pizza. Stay tuned for the next event!

Freshmen Attend Private Yeshiva College Dramatics Society Performance of "A Few Good Men"
Photo from @YUnews
On Tuesday night, many members of the MTA freshman class, accompanied by Ms.Haibi, Mr. Gillers, Mr. Goldberg, and Mrs. Levitt, enjoyed a pizza dinner, heard a few words from Rabbi Taubes, watched "A Night at the Opera" featuring the Marx Brothers, and then, for the highlight of the evening, went to YU's Schottenstein Center on campus to see the Yeshiva University Drama Society's production of "A Few Good Men."
The production was outstanding. Many of our students had never been to a live show and were completely taken by the experience.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible, especially Mrs. Levitt. We hope to repeat the experience at the YU production in the spring.

Varsity Hockey Dominates HANC - Ami Rosenfeld Scores (Possibly) Quickest Hat Trick In Yeshiva League History
The Varsity Lions dominated the HANC Hurricane, a top team in the Eastern Conference, on Thursday night. Coming off a 10-0 victory earlier in the week against the Heschel Heat (see below), the Lions set the tone early, controlling play and keeping the ball in HANC's zone for almost the entirety of the first period. The Lions had chance after chance, but they could not find the back of the net. The first period ended still tied at 0-0.
MTA then went on a scoring rampage in the second period. Dovid Boim put one in with help from line-mate and assistant captain, Ezra Quint. Then, Captain Ami Rosenfeld worked his magic, scoring possibly the quickest hat trick in Yeshiva League history. His three goals came less than sixteen seconds apart, and gave the Lions a commanding 4-0 lead. The domination continued in the third period as Boim scored his second goal from behind the goal line. To finish of the scoring, the Markowitz twins, Captain Zev and Azriel, each scored.
MTA improved to 5-2 and looks to continue its winning ways as the second half of the season begins Wednesday night against the Frisch Cougars in The Lion's Den.

Varsity Hockey Rolls Past Heschel
by Jeremy Borgen ('15)
This past Monday night, the MTA Varsity Lions traveled to the Upper West Side to face off against the Heschel Heat. Coming off a tough 3-1 loss to SAR, MTA had a lot to prove. The game was over before it even began, with super fan "Ezra's dad" rocking the stands. His cheering helped MTA come out of the first period up 2-0. The second period saw MTA score 5 more goals, and then 3 more in the third period for a 10-0 win. Special shout out to junior Rami Nordlicht with an incredible outing featuring 2 goals.
