Sharsheret Pink Day and Basketball Tournament

MTA joined together with hundreds around the world to raise awareness for breast cancer by wearing pink on Pink Day. A basket ball tournament was also held to raise money for Sharsheret.
Robotics Team Revs Up for Round II

Lions will remember that MTA's Robotics Team was doing well in the qualifying round in which it participated on January 26th and how disappointed team members were when the competition ran too late and was postponed until March 2nd.

At the original competition, MTA's robot excelled in defense and in the autonomous period, where it had to perform a series of movements directed only via a pre-written program written by Moshe Rosensweig.

The team had problems, however, in that part of the competition where the robot needed to pick up blocks and place them in a basket. The robot arm proved too difficult to maneuver with the coordination necessary to accomplish the goal.  But the team's members have used their time since the last competition wisely.

Check out their solution in the video below.

The Robotics Club Revs Up For Round II
Torah Bowl Team Rolls Into Playoffs
by Gabi Rosenthal ('14)

On Tuesday, the Torah Bowl team was looking to follow up an undefeated match with another one and to lock up the number one seed. After coming out strong and winning the first game against MDY, the Lions faced off against TABC. This win would clinch the number one seed heading into the playoffs.

In a very controversial game, it was determined that MTA had lost. After that game, though,  MTA rebounded with a win against RAMAZ, and going into the final game of the day, the Lions needed a victory against SAR to clinch the first seed. But MTA lost an extremely close game, leaving them as the number two seed.

Good luck in the playoffs!
Dr. Michael Berenbaum Addresses Seniors

Dr. Michael Berenbaum, an Academy and Emmy  Award winning historian and a world renowned expert on the Holocaust, addressed the Senior class in conjunction with the Names, Not Numbers Oral History Film Project. He stressed the importance of our generation listening to and gathering as much testimony as possible, as this is the last generation who will be able to do so via first-hand encounters with Holocaust survivors.
