Find the Home Office Tax Deduction Confusing?
IRS providing new, simpler option for calculating deduction
According to a post on www.whitehouse.gov/blog, many taxpayers who qualify for the home office tax deduction are not claiming it. On January 15, 2013, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that it "is providing a new, simpler option for calculating the home office tax deduction, allowing small business owners and employees who work from home and who maintain a qualifying home office to deduct up to $1,500 per year." Steve Denari is the managing director of WB Capital, a division of Weltman Bernfield LLC concentrating in helping businesses through transitions such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), a distressed situation (including bankruptcy), location of additional capital and debt, or incubation of a newly established endeavor.
Denari has many years of experience in the mergers and acquisitions and turnaround/bankruptcy sectors. This former Harley Davidson turnaround expert and Navigant Consulting M&A executive received his MBA from the University of Chicago and attended Northern Illinois University School of Law. His experience also includes the co-founding of WestWater Capital Advisors as a joint venture with the Chicago-based middle market law firm of BFKPN.
