Hello from your friends at Bike Recycle Vermont! Here are some updates since we were last in touch.

Special Edition Bike Jam:
WORK PARTY 2014!
Saturday, Sept. 20th 10am - 1pm

"Many hands make light work," said a very, very smart person once. So we're blowing up our regular monthly Bike Jam and turning it into a
BLOW OUT BRV WORK PARTY EXTRAVAGANZA!

Volunteers will paint, clean, wrench, organize... it's all going to happen and it's going to be awesome!

BRV specifically needs
people with basic carpentry skills and tools to help us build a door in the show room and tire, wheel, and fork storage. We're also
seeking artists who are interested in adding some informational bicycle anatomy murals to our shop walls. If you have some skills to lend to the effort, e-mail
christine@localmotion.org and let her know how you can get involved.

As usual, Myer's Bagels will provide bagels and cream cheese for gnoshing, and we'll brew up some coffee and tea for attendees. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning, yeah?

Hey ladiesssss... sign up for Bike Care 101

Due to popular demand, we've scheduled three more sessions of Bike Care 101, a clinic for women, trans, femme, and all non-male identifying folks who are interested in learning the basics of bike maintenance and repair.

The clinic consists of three 3-hour sessions taught by Veronica Wheeler, a professional mechanic at Old Spokes Home. In the three sessions, Veronica covers all of systems and parts of the bicycle, common repairs and fixes, and more. Sessions take place on three consecutive Monday or Wednesday nights.

Similar classes are valued at upwards of $300. Bike Care 101 is a sliding scale donation of $75 to $200. Scholarships for economically challenged folks are available. Email christine@localmotion.org to inquire.

For more information, upcoming dates, and to sign-up, visit the Classes page on our website.

Car-free streets in Burlington, this Sunday!
Grab your bike and take it to the street!

Bike, stroll, roll, dance and skate along three miles of car-free streets in the Old North End of Burlington on September 21st between 9am and 2pm. Activities, food and family fun for all!

Did you know that the area taken up by paved roads in the United States would fill a space larger than the state of Rhode Island? Sometimes we forget that these paved surfaces -- used almost exclusively by cars -- are public space... this is YOUR space! Open Streets BTV is inspired by events happening all over the world that close down streets to car traffic for a few hours and give people a chance to utilize that public space for walking, biking, and interacting with our community.

Bike Recycle Vermont staff and volunteers are running a pop-up bike shop at the Sustainability Academy, which is serving as a Bike Hub where all kinds of wonderful bike-i-ness is taking place. Alongside our stand you'll find bike-blended smoothies, bicycle games, and more. Come visit us and help fix some bikes from 9AM to 1PM!

To see a map of the streets, videos from similar events, and learn about other activities planned for Open Streets BTV, visit openstreetsbtv.com.

Happy Trails!

Love, Dan, Christine, Ron, and the BRV team.
