Greetings!Top

Greetings fellow Acutonics practitioners and friends!

I awoke this morning to the sound of robins singing and smiled with the knowing that Robin heralds the beginning of Yang's return. The early morning light was indeed brighter, the sunrise earlier. Ahhhh, another winter survived. The grasp of Yin (the Water element) waning in the appearance of small green shoots, and pink scented blossoms.

Being from Montana; I am amazed and often confused by the early appearance of the Wood element here in California. Just as I was settling in for my long winters rest and rejuvenation, the robins! The light! The buds! 70 degrees one day and 40 degrees the next!   Although it is still truly the time of the Yin (water element), the cycle is turning and the push of new possibilities teases or tortures our minds.

January, February and March 2013 brought Katie & Laurie the completion of the Mayan Calendar, the deaths of some beloved family and friends, the Flu from Hell, the hacking and ultimate loss of our e-mail and some old karmic dragons rearing ugly heads for yet one more pass at healing.

Snake
2013 Year of the Snake

We at West Coast Acutonics are ready to start the year now.  Join us as we begin our celebration of Yang potential:  2013 is the Chinese astrological year of the black water snake. Water snake challenges us to rise from the stagnant pools and marshes of our own dark fears and emotions. Water Snake also asks us to reconnect our heavenly stems (Crystal Palace, windows of the sky) and our earthy branches (Du Channel, / microcosmic orbit) to facilitate inner growth and to cultivate wisdom.

Our celebration of Potential this season includes: A new e-mail address; some up coming class dates; a forum date; and couple of winter blues protocols & a new pod of students learning the amazing possibilities of Acutonics.

Please make a note of our new e-mail address:

The Wood Element

Lamb on FieldAhh! Spring at last! So bright, so fresh...so agitating?
Are you one of the people who love springtime but finds themselves at odds with the season?  A great old jazz standard, "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most" is perfectly descriptive of this.  With birds singing and building nests, buds bursting everywhere, frogs starting their croaking, insects hatching, pollen flying in the gusty wind, we should be celebrating, right? Creation has begun again! Yet Aries, ruled by Mars, in its powerful movement forward can create rapture or a sense of attack if one is feeling allergic or stuck.

The return of the Wood element, with the surging energy of the Liver, often catches people unaware. It is like an off-cycle experience of PMS if you are experiencing imbalance in this element. Often people come in speaking of feeling prickly and irritable for no good reason, their allergy symptoms are starting up with a vengeance, especially the weepy, itching eyes. They "can't stand that wind"! Everything feels off, old symptoms have flared up, especially rashes and itching skin. In regard to mood, the Wood element is related to feelings of anger, frustration and depression, even if that is not one's usual state. If you are a Gall Bladder type of person, you might notice your old sense of being indecisive emerging again.

What to do to help yourself or others with these kinds of symptoms? In Level I Acutonics, so many great solutions are found:

When something is "stuck" or stagnant, what do we want to do? Move or disperse it!

What tools do you have to do that?

Zodiac and Ohm (Zodiac 3rd), and the 4 Gates (Liver 3 and LI 4).

Liver 3 is called Great Surge, and can be invaluable in bringing the upward surging of qi back downward to Earth.

Zodiac 3rd is also very helpful to disperse Wind, which can be the cause of many symptoms, including allergies, rashes and all kinds of itching.
Use Zodiac 3rd around the occipital region on points like UB 10 (celestial Pillar) and Du 16 (Wind Mansion) to clear the wind that enters here.
Why would the Wood element be out of balance in the first place? Maybe the winter was filled with frustration or a lack of exercise. Maybe there has been too much worry and not enough rest lately. The liver and the spirit that enlivens it, the Hun, are best when they can be "Free and Easy Wanderers".
The 4 gates open and disperse stagnation that then restores the feeling of freedom.
Next, strengthen the Earth element (Spleen and Stomach) with Earthday and Ohm on Stomach 36 and Spleen 6.
Clear the winter cobwebs from the sinus and 3rd eye with New Moon 5th and other local sinus, facial points.

Another nice layer to bring a sense of being in sync is to use the Ren and Du channels to keep the Microcosmic Orbit flowing smoothly, feeling back in alignment with the season and one's own creativity.

One of the happiest things we can feel is to be in alignment and in sync with Creation.
Enjoy the feeling of being a Free and Easy Wanderer this Spring.

From the Aries wanderer, Katie

 Acutonics Makes It's Way to

San Francisco County Jail

San Francisco Jail, San Bruno, CA
February 13, 2013
By Karen Saura

Inmates & Acutonics
San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirakarami invited organizers of Dancing Without Borders to hold a rehearsal for the male inmates of County Jail #5 on February 13, 2013 to teach the choreographed dance for the song "Break the Chain". The dance was performed on February 14th by inmates in the men's jail, the women's jail, and by over 1,000 dancers at City Hall in a flash mob dance later that day, joining dancers in over 200 countries around the world. The dance in the jail was part of the One Billion Rising global dance event, aimed at raising awareness for the issue of domestic violence.
The Dancing Without Borders team included Magalie Bonneau-Marcil, Rachel Erwin, Karen Saura, Heather Munro Pierce, and Josie Leher. Rachel and Karen are students of Acutonics, trained by Katie Mink L.Ac. and Laurie Herron, senior faculty with West Coast Acutonics.
They met with 30 male inmates in County Jail #5. Before the dance rehearsal, Rachel and Karen co-facilitated a group process to create safety and resourcing utilizing EMDR, mindful rhythms, sound and visualization. A sound healing protocol for the event was created using tuning forks and Tibetan bells. The general outline is as follows.  Read full article
