Schwarzman Scholars
Now Accepting Applications

  

Schwarzman Scholars is now accepting applications for the inaugural class of exceptional individuals who will join the world's next generation of leaders.     

 

Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective international scholarship program designed to prepare future leaders for success in a world where China plays a key global role. The world's best and brightest individuals will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through a fully-funded one-year Master's Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing - one of China's most prestigious universities.

 

The deadline to apply is October 1, 2015. Additional information on the application process, including key dates, requirements and eligibility criteria can be found on the website.

KleinKlein Family Scholarship - 2015 Winner

   

IIE Europe is pleased to announce the 2015 recipient of the Klein Family Scholarship

 

Balázs Borosi will graduate from Fazekas Mihaly Secondary School in Budapest, Hungary this summer.

 

Not only has Balázs excelled in the classroom, having followed a rigorous curriculum in one of the nation's top high schools, he also received awards at several national academic competitions. In addition to his schoolwork, he has been an active member of his community as a volunteer helping underprivileged children with whom he conducted a theater project.

 

A participant of the Youth Program at the Katona József Theatre of Budapest, Balázs is interested in continuing his studies in the Theatre Arts, and exploring all the opportunities offered by a liberal arts education when he begins his studies in the United States this fall.

 

The Klein Family Scholarship is available to Hungarian high school students to receive a Bachelor's Degree at Sewanee: The University of the South, located in the state of Tennessee.  

 

 

  

WhitakerWhitaker Grantee Enrichment Seminar

 

The  Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program, which IIE administers on behalf of the Whitaker Foundation, sends emerging leaders in U.S. biomedical engineering (or bioengineering) to undertake a self-designed project at top research institutions around the world.  

 

  

A total of 19 scholars and 24 fellows gathered in Budapest, Hungary from April 27-May 1st to present their research projects, network, and enjoy cultural activities. The grantees were joined by 9 members of the Steering and Review Committees from top U.S. research institutions.

   

Special guest speaker Ernő Duda, Founder, CEO & President at SOLVO Biotechnology, shared career advice with participants.

 

 

    

NAFSAIIE Europe at NAFSA Conference

Ágnes Vajda, Director, IIE Europe and Cheryl Francisconi, REAC, Southern Europe, will be joining colleagues from our other offices to represent IIE and EducationUSA in Boston, Massachusetts at
 NAFSA's Annual Conference & Expo from May 24-29th. This year's conference theme explores New Horizons in International Education.  

 

If you are attending the conference, please stop by booth 1222 to learn more about the programs and activities of the Institute of International Education and also visit the EducationUSA Pavilion (booth 2430). 

 

   

 

 

DorranceDorrance Scholars Summer Seminar 

The Dorrance Scholars Summer Seminar began on May 19th and runs until June 17th. A total of 21 Dorrance Scholars are gathering in Charlottesville, Richmond and Washington, DC for a few days, before traveling to several countries in Europe where they will take part in cultural activities and volunteer work. This year's destinations include Greece, Italy, Macedonia, and Hungary.

  

The summer seminar is an important component of the Dorrance Scholarships, which provide academic and financial support for first-generation college students attending one of Arizona's three public univerisites, South Mountain Community College, and the University of Hawaii at Hilo.  


The Dorrance Scholarship Programs was established  in 1999 by Bennett and Jacquie Dorrance at the Arizona Community Foundation, and serves as a model for educational philanthropy. 
 
The Dorrance Scholars Summer Seminar contributes to Generation Study Abroad, IIE's initiative to mobilize resources and commitments with the goal of doubling the number of U.S. students studying abroad by 2019.
