schwarzmanSchwarzman Scholars Program Launch

IIE continues to support outreach for Schwarzman Scholars, the prestigious new program inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship. Schwarzman Scholars will build a global network of future leaders who are well-prepared through a fully-funded, one-year Masters program at Tsinghua University to address the challenges of the 21st century and beyond. Inspired by the prestigious Rhodes scholarship, the program seeks to foster greater understanding and stronger relations between nations of the world and, in particular, China.

In fall 2014, IIE Europe team members were on hand at the launch of the program's European admissions recruiting efforts, held in London's Tower Bridge and featuring remarks by Oxford University's Vice Chancellor Andrew Hamilton; Schwarzman Scholars Dean David Li, and founder of the program and CEO of Blackstone, Stephen Schwarzman. IIE Europe also began outreach visits to top institutions in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Italy. Spring 2015 will find IIE Europe team members visiting nine more countries in order to ensure that European students are well-represented in the first cohort of young leaders that will benefit from the Schwarzman Scholars opportunity.
