Messengers called to pray at Springfield annual meeting
"It is good for us to draw nigh unto God in prayer. Our minds are grieved to see so little attention given to united prayer by many churches."
- Charles Spurgeon

The upcoming IBSA Annual Meeting will be permeated by prayer, leading to a special Concert of Prayer on Wednesday evening. Following the pattern in Isaiah 6:1-8, messengers will be guided through a cycle of prayer: Lament, Repent, Intercede, and Commit. Learn how you can begin to prepare at IB2news.org.

5 ways to guide your people through cultural conflict

Christians living in a fallen world are confronted by a variety of choices. How should they think through moral issues? It's not only pastors who are tasked with driving such discussions at church; it's also the church leaders, who interact often with the average layperson. Find out what you can do at ERLC.com.

The October 16 Elevate Marriage Event at the IBSA Building in Springfield will touch on such matters.

New SBC pastor care line helps pastors in crisis

The Pastoral Care Line, which launched Oct. 1, is dedicated exclusively to Southern Baptist pastors, chaplains and missionaries and can be reached by calling 844-PASTOR1. Calls are answered by Focus on the Family's Family Help Center and remain completely confidential. The care line is a partnership between the North American Mission Board and Focus on the Family. Learn more about the care line at NAMB.net.
What are you praying for?
Americans pray for their friends, families, and sometimes their enemies. They ask for divine help in times of trouble but rarely praise God's greatness. And they seldom add politicians, nonbelievers, or even their favorite sports team to their prayer lists, according to a new survey. Gifts for your pastors for Pastor Appreciation Month (and all the time)

A pastor never "clocks out." A pastor is a pastor all of the time. The responsibility is enormous as, to quote Martyn Lloyd-Jones, the pastor "is given charge of souls." Let's encourage, love, and support our pastors as they seek to faithfully fulfill all the duties of their ministries. Learn how at EricGeiger.com.

IBSA eConnection is a weekly e-newsletter designed to provide Illinois Baptists with useful information and resources. We pray it enriches your ministry and helps your church to grow and minister.
