News from the Illinois Baptist

Why 'Baptist' Faith matters

I've recently found myself in several different settings where I have been asked to help clarify what Baptists believe, and how those beliefs may be distinct or different from those of other groups. Sometimes the question comes from Christians of another faith background. Sometimes it's from a non-Christian who wants to understand if his or her perception is accurate. Occasionally, those from a different Baptist denomination simply want to understand why all Baptists aren't alike. Learn why our 'Baptist' faith is important at iB2news.org.

Mature man s hand bursting through blue background. 12 ways to bust out of that pastoral rut

" ... that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19).

March 2-9 is the Week of Prayer for North American Missions and Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
This week is a time to recognize the need to penetrate lostness among all people in North America. It is also a time to encourage Southern Baptists to be intentionally active in sharing the gospel with their families, friends, and communities. NAMB missionaries are involved in planting churches dedicated to ensuring that those who hear the good news of Jesus Christ are firmly planted in the gospel and are bearing fruit. Find out more about North American missions and missionaries at AnnieArmstrong.com.
Hope 5 ways great leaders keep hope alive

Most great leaders are considered great because they did something almost no one else believed was possible. Winston Churchill almost single handedly kept hope alive for the Western world in the early days of WW2, Lincoln brought unity to a nation fractured at the seams, and Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of a day few people thought would ever come. And, sometimes it's the pastor's job to be that kind of leader. Find out five ways great leaders keep hope alive at CareyNeiuwhof.com.

A red and white sign with the words Now Hiring isolated on a white background Now Hiring Sign 7 occasions when you should not hire more church staff

Not too long ago, you could add staff according to a clear formula, typically one full-time minister for every 100 to 200 in worship attendance. You could, in the past, know that the first staff was a pastor, followed by either music or education, and then followed by age-graded ministers such as students or children. Today, these decisions are much more fluid and much more contextual. Learn when your church should not hire additional staff at ThomRainer.com.
