LMCO 2012 ornament2012 LMCO: BE His Heart, His Hands, His Voice

It's beginning to look a lot like -- the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering! At the IBSA Building, the Christmas tree features LMCO ornaments. The IMB releases new ornaments annually featuring the emphasis for that year. The ornament in the photo is from the LMCO 2012 "BE His Heart, His Hands, His Voice" emphasis. For more about the ornament and other LMCO resources visit, http://imbresources.org/.

SBC Call to PrayerSBC-wide call to prayer for 2013 issued by Page

Frank Page, president of the SBC Executive Committee, is asking Southern Baptists to come together in 2013 for a year of emphasis on prayer "like none we've ever seen before." Expressing his feeling of urgency, Page is "calling on churches to host prayer events, to host solemn assemblies, to host 40 days of prayer and fasting events. I am asking pastors to join me in this deep burden of prayer." For more, including a list of prayer resources, go to BPNews.net.

Spring 2013 ResourceSpring 2013 Resource: Developing forward thinkers

In many churches, "who serves" in leadership is predetermined by a constitutional process, often with little thought given to the spiritual gifts, talents, Christian maturity, education, business savvy, or training an individual brings to the committee. Many churches rely on a council or committee to handle planning. But bringing only official officeholders to the table may not result in the best thinking or outcome. Learn more at IBSA.org.

Number 55 change killers in your church

The very fact that you're a leader means you have to chart the course and make bold steps toward the destiny God has designed for your church. The problem is ... it doesn't always work. Change is a scary proposition for most people, and so it's not always received with the enthusiasm you envision. Learn why change is so hard for churches, plus a few things you can do to make it easier at OutreachMagazine.com.

AppsA caution for those in social media

Social media, a relatively new means of expression and communication, has given power to those who had little power in the past. Anyone now has a platform to express himself or herself. There is indeed a sense of liberation in the new world of social media. But some cautionary warning signals are being made lest we who love social media show little or no restraint in what we write, record, photograph, or video. Read more at ThomRainer.com.

All State Choir and OrchestraAll State Choir and Orchestra 2013 Illinois Homecoming Tour auditions

Plan now for your youth to audition for the 2013 IBSA All State Choir and Orchestra January 26. This summer, choir and orchestra members will experience a worship leadership tour combined with a mission trip. They will minister throughout Illinois by presenting concerts, block parties, and leading other outreach ministries for local churches and associations. It will be a great opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus using the tools of vocal and instrumental music. Learn more at IBSA.org.
