Physical Literacy Summer Institute

August 12 & 13, 2014 | Edmonton, AB

Ever Active Schools is offering a unique Professional Learning Opportunity! Join Ever Active Schools for two days as we explore physical literacy and how it looks, feels and lives in our schools. During the summer institute, participants will examine the impact they have on a child's physical literacy journey, how to support the development of fundamental movement and sport skills and leave with practical tools and resources.

The summer institute is designed to support teachers who are just learning about physical literacy and those who have a deeper understanding. Breakout sessions and some of Canada's physical literacy leaders will tailor the summer institute to the readiness of the participant.

See what registration includes, outcomes of the two days and a draft agenda on our website.

Assessing Your Healthy School Community

Ever Active Schools (EAS) and our provincial partners support having schools complete an assessment of their school community. Doing an assessment is much like a report card. It gives your school a snapshot of where you currently are, so you can set priorities and see the growth as you implement school initiatives. In previous years, EAS has asked schools to complete the Health Assessment Tool for Schools (HATS). As of last summer, we have encouraged schools to use the Foundational Module of the JCSH Healthy School Planner and the HATS tool is longer being used.

Around the province, we have seen great success with school communities utilizing the JCSH Healthy School Planner. If you need support or assistance, please contact [email protected].

A Teacher's Journey: CSH and Curriculum Redesign
As part II of our interview series, Miranda Niebergall from Stony Plain Central School answers the following questions:
  • What have you done at your school to support the CSH approach within the school's vision?
  • What advice you would give to a school beginning its CSH journey?
  • In your opinion, how does the CSH approach align with the Ministerial Order on Student Learning?
Read the full interview here, and if you missed part I, find it here.
Thank you for your continued dedication to the health and wellness of our children and youth.

Sincerely,

Ever Active Schools
