Kainai project awarded $2,000
Kainai High School's Greenhouse Project was just awarded a $2,000 Communities ChooseWell Overall High Achiever award for the work at the high school and in the community.

The school community will continue looking after the vegetables and herbs that students planted in the EarthBoxes. The funding will be used to refurbish the old greenhouse structure on the high school grounds in the spring. Students are excited to be involved with project-based learning related to nature, wellness and working in a team environment.

Want more info? We'll be posting about the project on our website soon!

Winter running activity and tips
As the weather gets colder outside, many run clubs across the province are faced with the issue of moving practices inside or running in the cold. Join the AMA Youth Run Club to access fun indoor running games and outdoor running tips!

Running Activity
Break the group into two teams. Have each team form a line, facing the other team. Have participants sit down, legs straight out, feet just touching. Give each pair a number. When you call out a number, the two opponents jump up, run over the legs of the other pairs in one direction, then run outside the ladder to the other end and continue over the legs of the other pairs until they get back to their original spot. The first person back to their spot wins a point for their team. *Be sure to space the seated pairs with enough room for the players to run between their legs without stepping on anyone.

Winter Running Tips
  • Dress in layers
  • Have a change of clothes and footwear for wet weather days
  • Stuff wet running shoes with newspaper and leave them in a warm place. They'll dry quickly!
  • Apply sunscreen to exposed skin.
Register today or contact Hayley, AMA Youth Run Club coordinator, by email or at 780.454.4745.
