Success Story - Kainai Board of Education
Success Story - Kainai Board of Education

The Kainai Board of Education (KBE), with the support of Ever Active
Schools, is on the path to enhance the health and wellness of their
school communities.  The journey started three years ago when the
Kainai High School began to implement daily physical activity (DPA) in their school.  The staff and students embraced this initiative and
have continued the momentum with the student's PhotoVoice research project.  PhotoVoice was a method for youth to use cameras to capture pictures in their community that reflect a students view on health in their community.  The awareness has spread throughout the KBE and is having a positive effect on all of the schools within their Board. The following video captures the Kainai High School journey thus far.

Special thanks to the Kainai Board of Education for their time,
commitment and friendship on this inspiring project.

Bring Back Play!

Active play may be fun, but its certainly not frivolous. Play allows youth of all ages to try new things, test boundaries and use their imagination.

In addition to the physical health benefits, active play offers cognitive, emotional and social development benefits. It has been shown to improve and foster motor function, creativity, decision-making, problem-solving and social skills, the ability to control emotions and preschoolers' speech. And, its lots of fun!

ParticipACTION has launched a campaign to Bring Back Play! Visit their website for great ideas, tips and information on bringing more play into children's lives
