Great Kid Award
Alberta is home to thousands of kids who do great things every day for themselves and others - at home, at school and in the community. The Great Kids Award was first launched in 1999 as a celebration of children and youth who impact their communities in a positive way.
Albertans are encouraged to nominate a young person, between the ages of five and 18, for their determination, generosity, compassion, courage and strong spirit.
Nominations for the Great Kids Award 2012 are now open! Deadline for nominations is December 5, 2012.

HPEC Promoting School Wellness Award
The Alberta Health and Physical Education Council (HPEC) in coordination with Ever Active Schools (EAS) would like to honour an HPEC member who has demonstrated the promotion of wellness within their Alberta school in an exemplary way.
Nominations are being sought for an individual that uses a Comprehensive School Health (CSH) approach within their school. This individual demonstrates exemplary efforts in promotion and modeling of CSH priorities; active living, healthy eating, and creating positive social environments which has enabled students to develop lifelong learning skills.
Winners will be honoured, and receive their award, at the EAS Shaping the Future conference in Kananaskis, Alberta on January 25th, 2013.
Deadline for submissions is December 5th.

Mix up your Meals with Legumes, Tofu, Nuts and Seeds

Nutrition Innovation Award
Healthy Eating Pays off! Win $1,000 for your School!
Alberta Milk and our partners, Breakfast for Learning Alberta, Dietitians of Canada and Ever Active Schools, are happy to announce that up to seven awards of $1,000 each will be given to schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) in recognition of their creative healthy eating initiatives. Initiatives can include improving food available at school, implementing nutrition guidelines or policies and/or promoting nutrition education. Read more.

Speak Out Conference
April 12-14, 2013 | Edmonton
The Speak Out Conference is an opportunity for Alberta's youth to come together from every corner of the province once a year to discuss their perspectives and ideas on how to improve education.
200 students, aged 14 to 19, will gather to meet with Alberta Education. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about, and provide input on, the work and initiatives going on within Alberta Education. They are also excited to offer a concurrent conference for chaperones where we will highlight initiatives and give opportunities for input into the future of education in Alberta.
Deadline for application is Feb 28th.
