Change: Resist it at our peril
Throughout history, the only constant has been change. Communities, states, and nations have been repeatedly challenged to adjust to whatever forces they encountered. In retrospect, these periods of change are remembered more for how people responded to them than what caused the change.  More good came from those times when people recognized, adjusted and leveraged the opportunities that came with change than when it was ignored or resisted.

By planning for these periods of change, we can best position Michigan to succeed in the future.  We can ensure that our state has a highly-educated and skilled workface that is prepared for the jobs that will be available in the future. We can expand the economic tools available to help us attract and retain jobs. We can leverage our most valuable assets - like our automotive and engineering know-how - to become the center of mobility solutions.

To achieve the most positive gains for our state, we must plan for the future and embrace change. Michigan has the assets to thrive in the emerging economy, if we have the collective will to recognize it and work towards it, together.
