At Business Leaders for Michigan (BLM), our goal is to make Michigan a "Top Ten" state for job, economic and personal income growth - but we can't do it alone. We need every Michigan resident to become an active participant in the movement to build a New Michigan economy that capitalizes on our strengths and provides for maximum economic growth.
Tomorrow, November 6, we each have an opportunity to help shape the future of our state and best position Michigan for future growth. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. To see a sample ballot and find your polling place location, residents may visit the online Michigan Voter Information Center at www.michigan.gov/vote. On the website, residents can also find contact information for their local clerk.
Besides electing local and state government officials, Michigan citizens will be asked to decide six extremely important ballot proposals. The outcome of these proposals will directly impact Michigan's current momentum and future economic growth. Tomorrow's election is one of the most important in recent history, and BLM encourages every Michigan citizen to exercise their right to vote.
BLM supports Proposal 1 which asks us to decide whether to keep the Emergency Manager Law that is helping financially troubled communities regain financial stability.
BLM opposes Proposals 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 which ask us to decide whether to permanently embed in our Constitution specific labor, tax, energy, and bridge-and-tunnel building policies that promote the interests of particular groups at the expense of Michigan's hardworking taxpayers and families by making it more costly to live, work and raise a family here.
