Opening Day Logistics

Once again, our opening day, August 24th, will be a Gala Celebration!  The following are important details for the day:
  • School will begin at our normal starting time: homeroom begins at 7:44am.
  • Students are permitted to be out of uniform (see "out of uniform" policy in Family Handbook. Walking shorts or jeans, and tennis shoes or casual shoes are permitted; no sandals or flip-flops).
  • Each student will receive a free t-shirt upon arrival at school (in the Theatre Lobby). Every student will be expected to wear the shirt provided for them.
  •  Lunch will be provided at no charge for each student.
  • School will be dismissed at 1:30pm. Those who rely on Gahanna buses will need to arrange for a ride home on that day. Columbus and New Albany buses will pick up that day at 1:30pm.
We will also recognize the 2016 Girls Lacrosse State Championship team at a celebration assembly beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Summer Reading

Where is Mr. Garrick reading our summer book, The Glass Castle this week? Listen for an announcement next week on how to submit your answers on "Where was Mr. Garrick?" enjoying the summer reading over the past few months; those with the correct answers will be entered into a prize drawing.

Reminder: All students are required to read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls by the first day of school.

Daily Reflection

Soon we shall be in eternity, and then we shall see how very petty are the things of this earth and how inconsequential it is whether we are involved in them or not. Now we get all worked up as if they were terribly important! When we were small children, how carefully we collected pieces of wood, stone and such to build huts, and if someone knocked them down we cried; then we were all put out, but now we understand how unimportant these things were. We will feel the same way one day in Heaven, when we see that all our preoccupations in this world were nothing but childish concerns. Be faithful to your duties, but be convinced that there is nothing more worthy or more important than eternal salvation and the perfection of your soul. (Letters 455; O. XIX, p. 22)
