Uniform Sale Tomorrow -- July 20

Educational Apparel, our official school uniform provider, will be at St. Francis DeSales High School in the Franciscan Center tomorrow, July 20 between the hours of 12:00-6:00 PM for a summer uniform sale. Summer Reading

Can you guess where Mr. Garrick is reading our school-wide summer book The Glass Castle? Keep track of all the locations throughout the summer and you may receive a prize! At the beginning of the school year, you can submit your answers; those with the correct answers will be entered into a prize drawing!
 
Reminder: All students are required to read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls by the first day of school.

2016 Stallion Golf Outing
When: Sunday, August 7
Where: New Albany Links

Check-in 12:30 p.m.
Shotgun Start 1:30 p.m.
Dinner and Awards 6:30 p.m.

The fee is $100 for an individual golfer and $400 for a foursome. Fee includes: 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, two drink tickets, dinner, gift bags for each golfer, and a chance to win fabulous prizes.

Not able to golf? Join us for dinner to meet the fall athletic coaches and their seniors, and hear highlights of their upcoming season.

Educational Apparel Uniform Sale

Night of Tradition
When: July 23 from 6 p.m to 11:30 p.m.
Where: SFDHS Gymnasium
Our keynote speaker for the evening will be SFD alumnus Luke Fickell '92, current Co-Defensive Coordinator at The Ohio State University. Tickets are $35 per person ($15 for current SFAA members with the discount code that was sent to them via email).  Admission price includes dinner and drinks.  The evening is open to anyone who has been a part of the football tradition: coaches, players, cheerleaders, band members, parents, and fans! Parent of Athlete Meeting

Where: SFDHS Gymnasium
Mandatory for all parents of athletes.

Senior Spirit Day
When: August 10 at 2 p.m.
Where: SFDHS/St. Matthias Church
Senior parents are invited to join their son/daughter at 6 p.m. at St. Matthias Church for a prayer service. The Senior Picnic will be held for both students and parents directly following the prayer service back at SFDHS.

Freshmen Prayer Service and Icebreaker/Parent Social
When: August 11 at 6 p.m.
Where: The prayer service (for both incoming freshmen and their parents) will take place at St. Matthias Church, with the Icebreaker dance and Parent Social directly following in the SFDHS Gymnasium and Courtyard. 

SAVE THE DATE: St. Anthony Corn Roast Festival and Parish Rummage Sale 
When: August 26 6-11 p.m. and August 27 5-11 p.m
Where: 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus, 43229
They will have carnival rides, live entertainment, rummage sale, silent auction, and great food including roasted corn, ribs, pulled pork, burgers, brats, and much more. 


Stallions in the Spotlight

DeSales junior Kyle Moon was featured in Face Forward: Connecting Catholic Youth's series "Ordinary Teens Doing Extraordinary Things." Check out the highlight.  

An update from Down Under: James Ervin, who traveled to Australia to participate in the Down Under Sports Tournaments, had much success during his races: he received 10th place in the 100M, 5th Place in the 200M, 4th Place in the 4 X100 Relay, and 4th Place in the 4 x400 Relay. He was also invited back for the 2016-2017 tournament.

Important Message for Parents of the Class of 2017: Immunization Required

A message from School Nurse Ruth Ann Farthing RN: 

Ohio students entering 12th grade this fall will be required to be vaccinated against Meningitis. Two
doses of meningococcal vaccine must be administered prior to entry to 12th grade. If the first dose was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required. Please contact your student's health care provider about this vaccine and send the immunization record to the school nurse via fax at 614-265-3375. Daily Reflection

After you have finished your examination of conscience and conferred with a suitable spiritual director concerning your defects and the remedies for them, turn to the following considerations. Use one of them each day by way of meditation, and spend some time during your mental prayer on it. Always keep to the same method for the preparation and the affections as you used in the meditations for the first part. That is, immediately place yourself in God's presence and implore His grace to establish you in His holy love and service. (INT. Part V, Ch. 9; O. III, p. 333)
