Students in the Spotlight

Last Saturday, St. Francis DeSales senior Danny Barren participated in TedxNewAlbany. In his talk, he spoke about the evaluation of human value in a monetarily driven society.

St. Vincent dePaul members, Rachel Nguyen, Victoria Nguyen, Anna Sears, and Amy Doan, posed for a quick picture as they prepared to serve candy and cookies at the annual St. Vincent dePaul Easter party at St. Stephen's Community Center.  Members hid Easter eggs, painted faces, called bingo and played musical chairs with the children in the after school program.

SFD senior Katy Spittell was recently featured in an Ohio Dominican University video on her decision to attend there next fall. In this video, Katy explains the reasons why she chose ODU to study Environmental Science and to continue her Catholic Education. View the video here

Contemporary Art Field Trip to Pittsburgh

For the 2nd year, the Visual Arts department is offering a contemporary art educational trip to Pittsburgh. The trip will have tours of two museums; The Andy Warhol Museum and The Mattress Factory.  Travel will be on a comfortable chartered coach and there will be time for lunch and some sightseeing in downtown Pittsburgh.  The trip is Friday, May 13, and the cost of the trip is $60. There is space for 50 students.  Through April 10, registration is open first to students who are currently enrolled in an art class.  After April 11, we will open registration to students who have taken an art class last semester, and after that we will fill the trip with any students who are interested.  Below is a link to a flyer with more detailed information and a permission slip.  Please print the permission slip, fill it out and turn it in with payment to either Mrs. Aumiller, Mrs. Belt or Ms. Nye.  We will not hold a spot without payment.  Permission slips will also be available from any of the above art teachers. Please think about joining us! We had a great time last year.

Daily Reflection

The truly patient person, the true servant of God, bears up equally under ignominious tribulations and those that are honorable. To be despised, criticized or accused by evil men is something that a courageous man does not mind. But it takes a lot of virtue to accept being criticized, denounced and badly treated by good people - by our relatives and friends. (INT. Part III, Ch. 3; O. III, p. 137)
