TECH UPDATE
Students: If you have not updated your iOS to version 7.0, please do so. There have been multiple patches that address issues with the new version so it is now stable and needs to be on your iPad. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Mr. Murphy in the Franciscan Center.

Also, it never hurts to turn your iPad off from time to time. Some of you may notice issues connecting to the internet, or maybe some of your apps seem slow or unresponsive. Try completely shutting down your iPad and then restarting it.
 STALLIONS IN THE HEADLINES
Senior Sarah Schaber received the President's Volunteer Service award through HOBY for completing over 100 hours of service!

St Francis DeSales High School was recently awarded a Lemelson-MIT InvenTeamgrant in the amount of $6600 to create an automatic page turner for students with physical disabilities. A prestigious panel of judges composed of educators, researchers, staff and alumni from MIT, as well as representatives from the industry and former Lemelson-MIT Award winners, assembled this fall and selected DeSales as one of this year's InvenTeam grantees. DeSales is one of 15 high schools nationwide to be selected as an InvenTeam this year. Over the next eight months, the DeSales InvenTeam will develop its automatic page turner.  In June, the students will showcase a prototype of their invention at EurekaFest at MIT in Cambridge, Mass. Pictured above are the students who will be working together on this exciting project.

Members of the Stallions for Life, along with one of the groups advisers, Jeff Montenaro, participated in 40 days of Life, which is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God's power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion. The group prayed the rosary in front of an abortion clinic on East Broad Street, this past Saturday afternoon.

The Business Club hosted speaker, Shannon Himes, attorney for State of Ohio SEC. The students found Mrs. Himes talk informative on how the state investigates fraud involving securities. Pictured below are club officers, along with Mrs. Shannon Himes.

Congratulations to our Halloween contest winners from yesterday's dress up day! Check out a group photo of the winners as well as a few other great student (and faculty) costumes on our school Facebook page.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR PARENTS
St. Francis DeSales High School relies on parent volunteers to help reach out to current families on behalf of this year's Embracing Opportunities through the Power of the Stallion Community Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is one of the school's most vital fund raisers because it helps supports the current year operating budget.  Please click here to view volunteer opportunities

DAILY REFLECTION

Conduct and hold your spirit fast to the glorious paths of the heavenly Jerusalem, where from every side you hear the praises of God resounding. Look at the variety of saints and find out how they arrived at Heaven. You will learn that the apostles go there especially through love, the martyrs through their constancy, the doctors through meditation, the confessors through mortification, the virgins through purity of heart, but all of them through humility. (Letters 1715; O. XIX, pp. 360-361)
