STALLION SPONSORSHIPS
Have you heard of our Stallion Sponsorships? Stallion Sponsorships are dedicated to providing financial support for St. Francis DeSales High School co-curricular programs including athletics, band, drama, and over 30 scholastic and interest-based clubs. Your support of a Stallion Sponsorship will allow you to enjoy recognition opportunities for the school's three event fund raisers as well as the opportunity to place advertisements in the school's sports programs and bi-annual magazine. While your sponsorship directly impacts the co-curricular programs of our students, it also provides your business with targeted marketing and promotional opportunities to a loyal group of more than 9,000 parents, alumni, and friends of the St.Francis DeSales community.

This is a great opportunity to promote your business! If interested, please view our current Stallion Sponsorship brochure
STALLIONS IN THE HEADLINES
Last Saturday freshman Lauren Myers, sophomores Laura Vilardi and Michael Blakesly, and English teacher Mrs. Pickens (pictured below) painted and cleaned the Writing Center at the school. Their efforts are greatly appreciated!

The Boys Volleyball's "Block Party" last Friday raised $900 for CancerFreeKids as part of their annual Courage Court Challenge. The players sold wristbands and t-shirts at school and at the gate on Friday.  They also held a 50/50 raffle at the game. The Stallions swept Westerville North in both the JV and Varsity matches. CancerFreeKids' mission is to fund promising pediatric cancer research that might otherwise go unfunded.

For the second year in a row, Trey Saunders (pictured left) was instrumental at the grade school track meets hosted at DeSales. He helped line up all the kids and was at each track meet from beginning to end. As a St. Anthony alum, and now a sophomore at SFD, Trey said he was helping "in order to give something back to the program."

Junior Tyler Moon made the headlines again. Check out the article in a recent issue of the Columbus Dispatch here!

New this year! On Friday, May 24 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the SFD gymnasium we will hold our first annual Foreign Language Olympics. The Spanish, French, Italian and Latin clubs will be competing in various activities including a 5 on 5 basketball tournament, relay races and a translation competition to name a few. The purpose of the event is to create unity among students in the different language clubs and bring awareness to the importance of taking a language at St. Francis DeSales High School. The goal is for the Foreign Language Olympics to grow each year by adding a "best cultural food" contest, student artwork, and more. The event is open to all family members and friends!

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Did you know that one in four Americans will face mental illness this year? A mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person's thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Just as diabetes is a disorder of the pancreas, mental illnesses are medical conditions that often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, support and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raising awareness and building a community of hope for all of those in need.

On June 1, 2013, School Nurse Ruth Ann Farthing will participate in Franklin County's 10th annual NAMI walk. She invites you to visit the NAMI Franklin County Website to learn more, and if interested, join her on June 1st to raise awareness of mental health at the walk.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION

The words with which the Lord exhorts us to take up His cross and follow Him [cf. Lk 9:23] must be understood in this sense. We must cheerfully receive all the crosses that are given to us, even the slightest and the most insignificant. In this way we can understand the value of small crosses. (Sermons 2; O. IX, p. 19)
