STALLIONS IN THE HEADLINES
In the SFD Fishing Club's fishing tournament last weekend, freshman Thi Nguyen took first place and sophomore AJ Wolcowski took a close second. It was a cold and windy day with temperatures only in the mid-40's with wind chill and snow flurries in the morning, but ALL the anglers caught fish this day. Pictured are Thi and AJ.

The team of Charlie Mitchell, Ben Dumm, Nick Ruebel, and Nico Zingarelli(pictured below) finished as State Runner-Ups in the Personal Finance Challenge. This team finished 2nd of 350 teams in Ohio and look forward to competing again next year.

Sophomores Sam Vincent, Emily Piatt, and Taylor Shook (pictured below) participated in the OSU Women in Engineering Junkyard Battles during Spring Break. They had the opportunity to take part in building projects and hear from a couple of women engineers about their professions.

The St. Vincent DePaul club stopped by to pay a neighborly visit to ResCare residents on Tuesday. The club visits neighbors across the street several times a year to say hello and visit with the residents.

Senior Amy Shomo was a finalist for the John H. McConnell Scholarship. She was thrilled and indeed honored to be one of 3 final applicants vying for the $10,000 scholarship. The Blue Jackets players in partnership with the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation established the John H. McConnell Scholarship Fund in 2008 to honor the life and legacy of the team's late founder John H. McConnell. The fund was created to give fans of all ages the opportunity to honor Mr. Mac and his deep-rooted belief in the importance of giving back to the community. Each year, one local high school senior, who personifies his character and leadership, is awarded a $10,000 scholarship. Unlike traditional scholarships that are based on academic performance, this fund is intended to reward local high school seniors who demonstrate hard work, perseverance, leadership and community involvement. Although Amy learned yesterday that she was not awarded the scholarship, we are still very proud that she earned a spot as a finalist.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION

One of the virtues which Our Lord displayed for us on the cross was holy perseverance. Without this virtue we cannot merit the fruit of His passion and death. It is little use beginning well if we do not persevere until the end. In fact, it is certain that we will remain for all eternity in the state we find ourselves at the end of our days, when God will cut off the thread of our lives. (Sermons 29; O. IV, p. 283)
