Senior Shelby Baker (pictured below right) has been recognized by the National Scholarship Corporation as a Finalist! He is now in the running for a scholarship from the National Scholarship Corporation.
Sophomore Daniel Kelly will be in the upcoming production of the Pleasure Guild of Nationwide Children's Hospital's Peter Pan. The show runs March 8, 9, and 10 at the Palace Theatre with all proceeds benefiting the Nationwide Children's Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care Program. Daniel has been rehearsing since January 13, spending 20 hours a week! Break a leg Daniel, and thank you for donating your time and talents to benefit an important organization.
Congratulations to seniors Courtney Klosterman and Bella Guanciale (pictured left) for signing their college letters of intent on Wednesday. Courtney will play soccer at the University of Dayton and Bella will play volleyball at Fairfield University (CT).
Thank you to all who donated during our American Red Cross Blood Drive held on Wednesday. We exceeded our goal, and helped save 174 lives. A special thanks to student coordinators Nick Clarke and Alyssa Sherman.
Congratulations to the following student-athletes for being named to the All CCL Team in Swimming and Diving. Senior Eddie Cordek won 1st place in the 100 back (broke the record), and in the 50 free, and sophomore Anne Marie Cummins placed 1st in the 100 back. In Diving, senior Andrea Acquista was the CCL Champion, and broke her previous record. Chef Matt Schenk, the Culinary Arts Program Director and a DeSales parent, and Andy Falter, also from the Columbus Culinary Institute at Bradford School in Columbus, were guest speakers yesterday to the French I,II, III, IV, IV AP, and V classes. They performed a cooking demonstration, preparing a dish from French-speaking Martinique, where French, African and other cultures have created a multi-national cuisine.
Senior Kristen Sellan and junior Tyler Moon were both selected as Distinguished Finalists in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for their impressive community service activities.

| UPCOMING DIOCESAN
EVENTS
| | |
The annual Diocesan Youth Rally is happening on March 9th and 10th at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Westerville. This is a great opportunity for teens to gather from all over our Diocese to learn, pray and have fun together. This year, they have a fantastic keynote speaker, Mike Patin, from New Orleans. Mrs. Pore adds, "I have seen him many times and he is an absolutely wonderful witness to the Catholic faith and reaches teens by his humor, his humility and his storytelling." You can find more information about him at: http://www.mikepatin.com/. We are looking to send a large delegation from St. Francis DeSales to this event. Please e-mail Mrs. Pore for more information.
Also, the National Catholic Youth Conference will be held again in Indianapolis in November 2013. This is an event that every young Catholic should attend at least once in their lives. Catholics from all over the nation travel to experience this four day event and it is truly life-changing. We will be taking a group of students and teachers from St. Francis DeSales High School and spots will fill up quickly. The initial deposit of 100.00 is due by March 22nd to Mrs. Pore. Don't let your child miss out on this event! For more information, click here!

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION
| |
Do not get all worked up about the future disasters of this world, which may never occur anyway; when and if they do occur, God will give you the strength to bear them. Jesus commanded Saint Peter to walk on the water, but Peter, frightened by a gust of wind and the storm, almost drowned. Then he pleaded with the Lord, Who said to him, "What little faith you have ... why did you falter?" And putting forth His hand He saved him. [cf. Mt. 14:31] If God asks you to walk on the turbulent waters of adversity, do not doubt, do not fear, because God is with you. Have courage and you will be safe. (Letters 1420; O. XVII, p. 211)
