The St. Francis DeSales Environmental Club teamed up with The Franklin County Dog Shelter on December 10 and 12 to train 22 faculty and student volunteers. They received an orientation, tour of the facility, and participated in the Dog Walking 101 class. The Environmental Club is pleased to continue this important partnership with our Northland neighbor and to have the opportunity to help care for God's creation. Pictured right are Theology teacher Patti Stephas, her daughter Bridget '12, and the new addition to their family, Gillie, who they adopted from the Franklin County Dog Shelter last week. Patti and Bridget are both volunteers at the shelter as well.
We are proud to announce that Rachel Lartey and Mallory Mitchell have been chosen to attend the YWCA's Bright Futures Program. The girls will attend a series of 8 leadership workshops. They will be eligible for scholarships from Nationwide Insurance. The conference is centered on the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women. Pictured below (left and middle).
Senior Kristen Sellan was chosen as the 2013 Fouse Award winner. This award is given to a student who exemplifies the characteristics demonstrated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (tolerant, respectful, kind, brave and tenacious), as well as someone who takes action when he/she sees injustice.
