STALLIONS IN THE HEADLINES
| |
Before returning to France, exchange student Ana Houis and her SFDHS host Sophia Hamilton were given honorary membership to the French National Honor Society. Pictured left are Ana and Sophia receiving their awards from Alexis Swift, French National Honor Society President.
This past Tuesday, the St. Vincent DePaul Club sponsored a Halloween party for the children in the after-school program at St. Stephen's. The children had a great time devouring the many sweet treats provided by SVDP, and enjoyed playing games. Musical chairs, bingo and face-painting continue to remain popular with the children as well as the SVDP members! Pictured below are members of SVDP celebrating with their new friends.

| NOTRE DAME CLUB SPONSORS HESBURGH LECTURE | |
The Notre Dame Club of Columbus is again sponsoring a Hesburgh Lecture. The lecture this year is by James McKenna PhD, a professor of anthropology at Notre Dame. His topic is "Human Aggression: Is It Really in the Genes?" The lecture focuses on whether human aggression is part of our "Human Nature" or if our culture makes human conflict and war inevitable. Professor McKenna also looks at human aggression in relation to other animals and suggests that we are more peaceful and altruistic than we think.
The lecture is Sunday evening, November 11 at 7:00 pm in Marian Hall at Immaculate Conception Church on East North Broadway. The lecture will last approximately one hour with light refreshments served after the lecture. View the attached flier for additional details.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION
| |
Souls who are in Purgatory are there because of their sins, sins that they now supremely detest. But as for abjection and pain at being detained in that place and at being temporarily deprived of enjoying the blessed love that is paradise, they suffer it lovingly and devoutly according to the canticle of divine justice, "Righteous and true are Your ways..." [Rv 15:3] Therefore, let us patiently wait for our spiritual growth, and instead of disturbing ourselves because we have made so little progress in the past, let us diligently strive to do better in the future.
(T.L.G. Book 9, Ch. 7; O. V, p. 131)
