Matthew Davidson News ~  July 28, 2013

Greetings! ,

We were finishing up this newsletter late on Saturday night when we heard the shocking and sad news about the death of radio host Kidd Kraddick. Matthew was the guitarist in the 2011 Kidd Kraddick Rock Camp Band. Kidd and his staff provided a great week of fun and encouragement to all of the young musicians that were selected for the band. Kidd gave them the opportunity to write and record a song, record a music video, perform live on his radio show, and perform at the House of Blues with Patrick Stump. We have great lifelong memories and friendships from that experience, and will always appreciate the benefit that it has provided to Matthew's career. See the newsletter below for links to videos of highlights from Kidd Kraddick Rock Camp

We're looking forward to another upcoming weekend of out-of town shows. Matthew performed on The Sucarnochee Revue last February in Livingston, AL and is honored to be invited back to perform again on Friday, Aug. 2nd at The Temple Theatre in Meridian, MS. See more details in the newsletter below.

The Matthew Davidson Band is honored to be performing in the fourth Louisiana Soundtrack Experience concert sponsored by The Louisiana Office of Tourism and Oxford American magazine. The free concert begins at 6:00 PM on Sat., Aug. 3rd at The Arcade Theater in Ferriday, Louisiana. Click HERE for more details.

Last weekend, The Matthew Davidson Band enjoyed performing at The Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas. Thanks so much to everyone that came out! In fact, Rob Chickering, Kidd Kraddick's producer, was in the crowd showing his support. We were told by the staff that we had a great crowd for an out-of-town band. (See photos below.) Next week, we'll include photos from Matthew's visit to Seacrest Studios at Children's Medical Center in Dallas and tell about a group that donated 11 guitars to the hospital's Musical Therapy program.

About Matthew Davidson -

"Matthew Davidson has been playing guitar for about six years. It looks like 16 when you see him play." ~Kidd Kraddick in 2011, host of nationally syndicated radio show "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning".

"Fourteen year old rising child prodigy, Matthew Davidson, has been making major waves in the music world. Getting his first taste of guitar at the age of three, Matthew has been stunning the ears of multiple guitar enthusiasts and organizations across the country." ~William Clark, Guitar International, Jan. 2013

"Wonder kid Matthew Davidson may only be 14 but he definitely knows a little something about the blues. "Step Up" is only a taste of what is to come for Matthew. His mature funk'd out guitar skills are inevitably demonstrative of this kids natural talent and devotion to music. You'll never hear another 14-year-old hone that Louisiana Southern blues-funk rhythm the way that Davidson has. " ~Kimmie Tubre, Where Y'at Magazine, New Orleans, LA - December 2012

"The next generation of stars in Louisiana...Matthew Davidson...14 years old from Shreveport, Louisiana. He is going to be something special. He is right now and he's going to be in the future. You know, you look at Matthew and you think about Hunter Hayes, who Louisiana has watched grow up over the years...(3 Grammy nominations for him this year), so...the future of Louisiana music is in good hands." ~Louisiana Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, Louisiana Public Broadcasting - December 2012
