Matthew Davidson News: The Brotherhood of the Guitar   ~  May 23, 2013

Greetings! ,

We reported the good news about Matthew being invited to join The Brotherhood of the Guitar in a previous newsletter. Last month, acclaimed photographer Robert Knight visited Shreveport to interview and photograph Matthew. This segment by KSLA (CBS) Entertainment Reporter Jabari Thomas is a great summary of this event and honor for Matthew:

Photo Shoot with Robert Knight

We enjoyed Robert Knight's recent visit to Shreveport. The first stop was at Matthew's house, to tape the video that is linked in the article above.

Our next mission was to find an interesting outdoor location before the sun set. First we headed to downtown Shreveport and found an alley (never noticed this one before!):

Then we headed to "somewhere off of North Market":

After the shoot, we enjoyed a fun dinner at Herby-K's. The next morning, we met at Guitar Center before the store opened for more filming:

Watch for Matthew to be featured in a fall issue of "At:Guitar Center", their monthly buyer's guide which is mailed to subscribers and available for pick-up in stores.

We appreciate Robert sharing his time and talent to photograph Matthew for The Brotherhood of the Guitar project! Watch for more photos that he took of Matthew in upcoming newsletters, but here's one of our favorites:

About Matthew Davidson -

"I covered the music scene in Shreveport from 1976 to 1991 and encountered a wide range of talented players. Matthew could easily hold his own with any of them. Talent like his is a divine gift, and I hope he takes his potential to the limit - and beyond." ~ John Andrew Prime, writer for The Shreveport Times, 2013

"Fourteen year old rising child prodigy, Matthew Davidson, has been making major waves in the music world. Getting his first taste of guitar at the age of three, Matthew has been stunning the ears of multiple guitar enthusiasts and organizations across the country." ~William Clark, Guitar International, Jan. 2013

"Wonder kid Matthew Davidson may only be 14 but he definitely knows a little something about the blues. "Step Up" is only a taste of what is to come for Matthew. His mature funk'd out guitar skills are inevitably demonstrative of this kids natural talent and devotion to music. You'll never hear another 14-year-old hone that Louisiana Southern blues-funk rhythm the way that Davidson has. " ~Kimmie Tubre, Where Y'at Magazine, New Orleans, LA - December 2012

"The next generation of stars in Louisiana...Matthew Davidson...14 years old from Shreveport, Louisiana. He is going to be something special. He is right now and he's going to be in the future. You know, you look at Matthew and you think about Hunter Hayes, who Louisiana has watched grow up over the years...(3 Grammy nominations for him this year), so...the future of Louisiana music is in good hands." ~Louisiana Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, Louisiana Public Broadcasting - December 2012

We're fortunate to have secured him during the budding of his career." - Adrienne LaFrance, Downtown Monroe RiverMarket Manager - The News Star, April 26, 2013
