The Episcopal Church Responds to Super Storm Sandy

Episcopal News Service has a wonderful and thorough story about how churches in the Northeast are responding to community needs following Super Storm Sandy. You can also read about how Episcopal Relief & Development is supporting those congregations and dioceses here. You can donate to Episcopal Relief & Development's Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund here.  Please keep in mind that many of the clergy, staff and volunteers who are responding to this disaster in a variety of ways are out of their own homes or have been without power in their own communities for several days. Please keep all those affected by and responding to the impacts of this storm in your prayers.

Advent Wreath Making

Join for our annual making of wreaths and receive family/individual devotion guides for Advent 2012. Wednesday, 11/28, 6pm - 8pm with Soup Supper. For more information see Cheryl Morris.

School Supply Drive

School supplies in November?! In fact, many children in our local community need school supplies year round. The school items collected during the summer for Tri-Lakes Cares to distribute does not meet the need once the school year begins. Many of the volunteers end up having to purchase many dollars worth of additional supplies. I have chosen this particular project to fulfill my community service requirement for my 9th grade Civics class, and to help serve our community! Please consider buying a few items to help with this cause. Anything school related is appreciated: backpacks, paper, pencils, markers, glue, etc. I will be collecting the supplies through the month of November, and will place a marked basket at the back of the church. Please contact me, Emily Barkocy, with any questions. Thank you in advance for your support! soccerbarkocy@gmail.com

M Coats Lords Dinner

Lord's Dinner--Dec 2

St. Matthias will be serving meals to over 100 guests at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Old Colorado City  on Sunday December 2nd. These are folks who are very low income or homeless.

We will be providing meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and cake.   In order to make this a success, we need your help with providing this food. Please see the kiosk at the back of the church and sign up to bring a 3 lb. meatloaf, a sheet cake or fresh vegetable or fruit trays. We will provide the mashed potatoes and green beans.

We're also taking donations of gently used or new hats, gloves, coats, sweaters, socks, travel size toiletries, toothbrushes, disposable razors, new or used candles and blankets.   These can be left at the back of the pews. Any questions, please contact Kathy Strom at 481-0943.
