From the Campbells
For those who have not yet heard, Heather and I are in the last steps of a discernment process to serve as a Communities Pastor at Tri-Lakes Chapel, a non-denominational church in our area.
About three years ago I began to wonder with God and others about the shape of the future church and at the same time wondering about the next steps/stage of my ministry. In the following months, God led me to see the importance of Christians being with other believers in small groups with the goals we've identified as the 4 Ms: maturity, mutuality, ministry, and mission. It believe God is calling me to focus on nurturing Christian community in my ordained ministry.
The focus of my ministry at Tri-Lakes Chapel will be to pastor and coach their Base Camp (small group) leaders, provide pastoral support for those within the groups, and identify and develop future leaders.
Because of the unusual circumstances, I have - from the beginning - asked and included our Bishop in the process. He has agreed to let me serve at Tri-Lakes Chapel as a priest in good standing in the Diocese of Colorado with obvious limits to my sacramental ministry (St. Matthias is the Episcopal Church in Monument - and a great one)!
That I'm their final candidate was announced on Sunday, November 11 at St. Matthias and Tri-Lakes Chapel. I have been selected by their Elders and pastors, Heather and I will visit them on November 18 during worship for a final interview, and wait for approval by their lay members. Final word will come on December 2.
The Vestry has begun working the next steps under Senior Warden Rich Strom's capable leadership and the goodness of our Lord.
By God's grace and your faithfulness, St. Matthias is healthy, growing, and moving forward in God's vision for us to be a "contagious, loving, equipping, serving community of Christians." You are loving people, you care about what Jesus says and what the Holy Spirit is doing, and you are capable. We have a great Vestry, great ministry leaders, great people, and a great God and thus a great future.
Heather and I are very grateful for you and the depth of our relationships. We love you. You and we have prayed together, worshiped our Lord together, mourned and celebrated together, and served God, his people, and the community together. We are and have been a family as the body of Christ. Our likely departure will be like sending a child off to college: a loss and a new season.
Please don't hesitate to call either of us, and we look forward to celebrating, in the weeks to come, all that God has done in and through and for us.
Love,
Scott, Heather, Caden, and Judah

"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4.6-8

From Senior Warden, Rich Strom
For those of you who missed the worship service on November 11th when Fr. Scott announced that he is leaving St. Matthias, I wanted to communicate with you.
Please pray for Fr. Scott, Heather, and his family. We are very grateful that Fr. Scott has been our pastor for the past twelve years. We are thankful that he heeded God's call to come St. Matthias. We pray that God will always be with Campbells to guide and watch over them.
Attached are my remarks that I made to the congregation following Fr. Scott's announcement (click here).
Fr. Scott's exact departure date has not been determined. He will be the Rector at St. Matthias at least through December 16th.
We now must begin the process of calling a new priest. We will do this with the Bishop and his staff. Canon Lou Blanchard from the Bishop's staff will be at our worship service on December 2nd where she will give a presentation on the transition. The Vestry will be meeting on November 26th as well as communicating between ourselves about the transition period and the calling of a new priest.
We will keep you updated on the transition period and the process of calling a new priest. After the service on November 11th, I conducted a question and answer period about the transition period and the process of calling a new priest. The approximate 20 people who attended thought it worthwhile and recommended I conduct another one after next Sunday's service, which I will do.
Please pray for the congregation, the Vestry and the Bishop that we hear God regarding this situation. Please begin your own discernment regarding the profile of a new priest.
During this transition time, we encourage and look forward to your thoughts and feelings regarding St. Matthias and the profile of a new priest. Remember, the Vestry represents the congregation. We need and want communication with you.
