Care Boxes for Deployed Military
This Sunday we will pack care packages for deployed military on our prayer list. Please join during coffee hour for this event. If you would like us to pack and pray for a deployed soldier, please contact Fr. Scott ASAP. We've done some research, and here are welcomed items for this packing:
- Beef Jerky
- Homemade or store-purchased cookies (chocolate will frequently melt, so be aware); a piece of bread in homemade baggies is a good idea (no nuts)
- Sunflower seeds (no nuts), gum
- Canned or dried fruit (no nuts)
- Hard candies
- White socks
- Good quality coffee
- Shaving cream
- Magazines and books
- Zip lock bags
- Packages of pre-moistened, alcohol free wipes (not tubs)
- AA batteries
- Sudoku and crossword puzzle books
- Personal notes of thanks/cards
- DVDs of appropriate titles
We've been steered away from chocolate, razors and other toiletries, cards, "culturally sensitive" materials, chips, drink mixes, and granola/snack bars.
