Care Boxes for Deployed Military

This Sunday we will pack care packages for deployed military on our prayer list. Please join during coffee hour for this event. If you would like us to pack and pray for a deployed soldier, please contact Fr. Scott ASAP. We've done some research, and here are welcomed items for this packing:

  • Beef Jerky
  • Homemade or store-purchased cookies (chocolate will frequently melt, so be aware); a piece of bread in homemade baggies is a good idea (no nuts)
  • Sunflower seeds (no nuts), gum
  • Canned or dried fruit (no nuts)
  • Hard candies
  • White socks
  • Good quality coffee
  • Shaving cream
  • Magazines and books
  • Zip lock bags
  • Packages of pre-moistened, alcohol free wipes (not tubs)
  • AA batteries
  • Sudoku and crossword puzzle books
  • Personal notes of thanks/cards
  • DVDs of appropriate titles

We've been steered away from chocolate, razors and other toiletries, cards, "culturally sensitive" materials, chips, drink mixes, and granola/snack bars.

Oops...

The 2013 Missional Budget Narrative went out on Sunday without a proof-read and had multiple typing/grammar errors. We apologize. A corrected copy is on the back table and posted on our Website at saint-matthias.org on the Vestry page.

Lap Robes and Crossroads Ministry USA

Answering God's Call for the Elderly Living in Care Centers

This year The Hannah Chapter Daughters of the King at St. Matthias is collecting lap robes/fleece throws/small afghans for Crossroads Ministries as a Service Project. These items will be donated to Operation Golden Christmas and You Are Warmly Invited to join with the Daughters in this effort and bring a donation to church on or before November 25th. A receptacle is located at the back of the church.

Gael Phaneuf, a Hannah Chapter Daughter, has worked with Crossroads for more than 7 years and will deliver your gifts. On behalf of the Daughters and Crossroads Ministries USA, Inc., thank you, and may God richly bless you for your participation.  For more info see Sunday's bulletin or the announcements on the St. Matthias website: saint-matthias.org
