September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

As the month of September brings prostate cancer into focus, it's time to increase our understanding of the disease, including its prevalence, approaches to screening and prevention, treatment options, and resources that offer updated prostate cancer information throughout the year.

Prostate cancer is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in men (behind skin cancer) and is a leading cause of cancer death. According to the American Cancer Society, there will be an estimated 220,800 new cases of prostate cancer and an estimated 27,540 deaths in the United States in 2015.

Staying informed with the latest news on prevention and screening is an important step in reducing your risk of developing prostate cancer. With early detection and today's treatment methods, prostate cancer is curable. A simple, noninvasive PSA blood test is the first step in increasing your chances for a full recovery.
