New Report Highlights Benefits of Flu Vaccine
Please read the following information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) regarding the importance of getting a flu vaccine, especially now as we head into the heaviest part of the flu season.
In summary:
- In 2012 -2013, flu vaccination prevented an estimated 6.6 million influenza-associated illnesses.
- During the same time period, flue vaccination prevented an estimated 79,000 hospitalizations.
- As of November, 2013, only 40% of Americans six months and older have gotten a flu vaccine.
- Children aged six months through four years, and persons 65 and older are at highest risk for flu.
The Center for Disease Control urges unvaccinated Americans to get a flu vaccine.
