Friday Night Tasting Lineup

Campos de Estrellas Brut Nature NV

15 months aging on the lees. Finally, the bottles are disgorged to remove the yeasts and the bottled is topped up with the same wine, with no sugar being added. In the Brut Nature, the acidity is more to the fore and the yeastiness from the aging is more outstanding. This is a new favorite, pure and bright with zero dosage = super dry.

Our Price: 13.57

2012 Cantina Colle Moro Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Rosé
Dry, cherry fruit, pretty... Lots of fruit and juicy acidity. Refreshing. Bright strawberry fruit and clean spice. This wine is brand new for the tasting, and a style of wine that we love, from the hills of Guastameroli di Frisa, founded in 1961. Great clean fruit, dusty & light tannins/ tangy, pie cherry, red fruited, minerality coming through.

Our Price: 9.97

2010 Marrenon Grande Toque Red

80 Syrah / 20 Grenache Noir - Nice ruby red color. Red fruits and floral aromas. Structured and rich wine, which means a well ripe substance, long on the palate. This wine ideally accompanies meat, game and cheese, especially lamb brochette with fried aubergines (the dreaded eggplant). Great amount of Syrah for the southern Rhone, showing killer Syrah fruit for half the money of the Northern Rhone.

Our Price: 13.57

2011 Vina Ijalba, Livor Tempranillo, Rioja

Cherry, juicy, softer, easier Tempranillo. Good to bring back. From the Rioja Alta sub-region of La Rioja. Fresh & tasty juice, clean aromas, with ripe red berry fruit & a bit of fennel frond, creamy. Dry, with round tannins and ripe fruit. (with 10% Mazuelo). This has been a big hit in the shop. We really like the balance at the low $. Up front fruit, softer, round, ripe. Juicy, Tempranillo acidity shining through. Organic.

Our Price: 11.97

2010 Ch. Gillet AOC

This red is an unoaked merlot-dominated blend from Bordeaux. Some licorice on the nose, smooth. It's also very dry with flavors of tobacco, pepper and some red fruits. It has a restrained nose of plum with a little hint of a cherry edge. On the palate it is dry, savory and classic 'luncheon claret'; it is on the lean, perhaps even austere side and needs food, but it has elegance and medium-bodied refinement with a hint of graphite that is very Bordeaux.

Our Price: 11.97
