Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2012 Poppy Chardonnay

Santa Lucia Highlands, Central Coast - 2% Gewurztraminer.  Juicy lemon and honeysuckle, with a ripe melong component, hard spices like nutmeg & clove. A sweet note from the ripeness of fruit and richness from lees stirring in French oak. 1/3 cold, slow stainless steel fermentation, 1/3 small barrel with lees aging and malo-lactic fermentation, 1/3 stainless with French Oak, with lees stirring. Final blend is 80% aged on oak with 10% fermented in small barrels, 33% malo-lactic fermentation completed, and 20% stainless steel only. This has been a favorite since we opened the shop.

Our Price: 12.57

2011 Bench Pinot Noir

Brack Mountain Wine Company. Cool climate blending of blocks from the Sangiacomo Amaral Ranch Vineyard (San Pablo Bay) (Sonoma Coast AVA). Blueberry / bramble aromatics, coniferous herbs, red flowers. Pure, with fine, soft tannins. Light spice, velvety mouth-feel, and long finish. Lots of berry and plum and complexity. A favorite offering as a value Pinot Noir, showing rich CA character without getting all Cherry Coke like. Used often by us as a classic example of California Pinot Noir.

2012 Bench Pinot Noir

Brack Mountain Wine Company. Cool climate Sangiacomo Amaral Ranch Vineyard (San Pablo Bay) plus some Teac-Mor Vineyard fruit from the Russian River Valley. A great vintage, with lots of mature grapes, balanced flavors, and structured tannins. Fermented in open top stainless steel, put into barrel just before fermented dry. Indigenous yeast, aged in 30% new 100% French Oak for 7 months. Floral, with raspberry fruit on the nose, with darker earth and raspberry on the palate. New vintage.

2010 Mettler Zinfandel - Epicenter

Harvested from one of the oldest vineyards in the Mettler Ranch, organically and sustainably grown in the "Epicenter" of the Lodi old vine Zinfandel district. Plum, strawberry, vanilla, hard spices. Bold, darker fruit on the palate, very rich without getting as hot as they are able (some vintages have pushed 17%). Actually shows a bit of restraint, for the neighborhood. A favorite Zinfandel of many of our Zindicate.
