Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2009 Guilhem Gacogne

Vin de Pays de Gascogne: is a zesty & lively white wine with a nose of white fruits & a clean, crisp finish. The assemblage is mostly Colombard with Gros Manseng & a little Ugni Blanc added for freshness & delicacy. Imported the grape variety Gros Manseng from the neighboring appellation of Jurançon to balance Gascogne's traditional varietals: Ugni Blanc & Colombard. Through Alain Lalanne's intuition for the potential of each grape & expert blending, his wines are delicately crafted & precise.

Our Price: 9.97

2009 Moulin-à-Vent Domaine des Burdelines

Cru Beaujolais (Gamay). This vineyard of 12 hectares is located on an airy plateau where the rock is pure granite full of mineral elements & especially manganese. The rock is close to the ground so the roots can extract many oligo (trace) elements that will add complexity & structure to this "climat". The grapes are dense & composed of small berries that bring a high skin/juice ratio. This allows a good extraction of the color, the tannins & the aromas. The maceration process lasts 15 days, with pumping over. The wine matures partially in wooden oaks & partially in wooden barrels to soften the tannins.

Our Price: 13.57

2011 Lavernette Beaujolais Villages

Beaujolais Villages (Gamay) - Fresh & juicy with bright red fruit (sour cherry with a bit of strawberry & maybe a hint of raspberry). Finishes with a good burst of acidity. The taste of apple pie & cherry tart melded into one with strawberry rhubarb flavors to top it off. This Beaujolais-Villages has the enchanting fragrance of ripe red fruits from the orchard & briar.

Our Price: 15.57

2011 Coupe Roses Bastide Minervois

There are no additives to the wine & minimal intervention in the winemaking process.   The 2011 Chateau Coupe Roses Minervois La Bastide is a blend of predominantly Carignan & Grenache with a tad of Syrah. Pours a deep ruby color in the glass with aromas of must & rich berries.  The palate is earthy & there are layers of tar, cherries, raspberries, blueberries, & black pepper with floral nuances.  Somewhat reminiscent of a Bordeaux...dirty & delicious!

Our Price: 14.57
