Thursday Night Tasting Lineup
2011 J.J. Prum Riesling Kabinett - Mosel
J.J. Prum Riesling Kabinett 2011 is a very racy Kabinett, well structured, combining lightness and delicacy, showing a crisp acidity and a balanced minerality. "Apricot and mint on the nose. Supple papaya fruit on the palate. The appealing finish shows a spicy kick." 87 Points International Wine Cellar For centuries the Prüm family has called the village of Wehlen home. The 33.5 acre estate consists of nearly 70% ungrafted vines. Holdings are in the best parts of the top Middle-Mosel sites: Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst, Bernkasteler Lay, Bernkasteler Badstube, and Bernkasteler Bratenhöfchen. Average annual production is 13,000 cases. The harvest at J.J. Prüm is always extremely late, and the wines are very long-lived.
Our Price: 20.57
2011 Dr. H. Thanisch Riesling Kabinett - Mosel
The summer was not too warm, with enough rain and humidity to allow a perfect mineralization and growth of the grapes. On August 26th there was a devastating hail storm in our area, but luckily it barely affected our vineyards - thank God! Autumn started with glorious sunshine in September and high temperatures and cool nights, which is a pre-condition for building aromatic structure in the grapes.
Our Price: 24.97
2010 Huber Malterdingen Pinot Noir
25% whole bunch, 12 to 25 year old vines, deeper rootstock. More minerality, all second and third use oak. A slightly more open earthy nose, again lovely crisp acidity, chewy but ultimately supple palate, fresh strawberry, crimson earth, you could really smell this for ages and ages. There's a lot going on here. Again exceedingly fine and pure fruit, racy acidity, oozing with purity and focus, super delicate but concentrated.
Our Price: 44.97
2010 Huber Alte Reden Fassprobe Pinot Noir
25 to 40 years old vines. Burgundy-like concentrated nose, showing a little oak, some mushroom under growth forest autumnal notes, quite stony and fine.Really intense fruit in the background here. And as a barrel sample already looks very complete. 2010 in Baden was a late year, mid June flowering, which by the way 'used to be normal'. The flowering time very cool, resulting in small berries, many without seeds, which is wonderful for Pinot Noir, and Bernhard says it reminds him of vintages like 1990, 93 and 2004.Wonderful potential! Yields were low - 25hl/ha in 2010, lower than normal, which is around healthy. Organic practices are used, massive rainfall region, 1000 litres per year, so huge fungal pressures.
Our Price: 84.97
2012 Valckenberg Dornfelder
This Valckenberg Dornfelder is a smooth, medium-bodied, lightly sweet red with notes of ripe cherries and black currants bursting on the palate, followed by a distinctive vanilla note on the velvety finish. A versatile wine that pairs with spicy beef dishes, barbecue, pasta with marinara, pizza, or even with cherry pie or dark chocolate.
Our Price: 11.97

Friday Night Tasting Lineup
2012 Bodegas del Aguila Seis Circles White90% Viura / 10% Chardonnay - Tangy, with melon and apple. High altitude vineyards due south of the Pyrenenees. D.O. Cariñena (Northern Spain). Low (11.5) alcohol, juicy acid. Dry & sunny days, cool evenings, slate soils. Citrus, pineapple, Viura floral notes. Great aperitif and pair with lighter preparations of white meats, fishes, and Asian goodies. Our Price: 11.97
2010 Bodegas del Aguila Seis Circles Tinto Red
Down from 13.97 to 11.97 as we wind down the vintage... Tasty & good. Clean, brambly. Sweet cherry, plum fruit. This delightful Spanish red offers spice & pepper notes on the nose, along with aromas of ripe berry, black cherry & currant, blueberries, all of which is reprised on the smooth, fruity palate, which is soft, generous and lightly spicy. The supple texture, ripe fruit & hints of pepper make this a great all-purpose red that will match a wide variety of menu items, though it is soft enough to be enjoyed by itself.
Our Price: 11.97 (Was 13.97)
2011 Bodegas Solar de Urbezo 'Dance del Mar' - Cariñena
Tempranillo - Merlot - Juicy, light, bright, some mineral backbone, cocoa, cherry. Great QPR, had almost disappeared, then got a WS 90 in 2005, bounced back. Very fruity, with berries & dark cherries, soft & elegant tannins. Clean finish. Great with charcuterie like smoked terrines, game, red meats, roasts, cheeses. A Robert Parker darling as well, and still we like it (clocks in right at 14% alcohol).
Our Price: 15.57
2009 Resalte - Balsion Roble - Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
3 months in French and American oak. Sweet & juicy fruit, then scrubby tannins and mineral. Good pricing for Ribera del Duero. Younger vines (around 10 years old). Going for fresh fruit - gravity flow, controlled temperature fermentation, 20 day maceration. Softness and some length added by a brief stay in barrel. Tempranillo shines through with vibrancy - I like it. Markedly fruity, easy drinking, fresh.
Our Price: 20.57
