Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2012 Fuentespina Rosado

Ribera del Duero. At this altitude Tempranillo gives thin-skinned and refreshingly acid fruit, which in turn gives wines that are delicious also when they are young, like this Rosé. The grapes are rigorously controlled for hygiene standards, quality, & acid content. After de-stemming and crushing, a cold film maceration is carried out at 5ºC for a period of 6 hours to obtain the maximum primary aromas. Fermented in stainless steel tanks between 18ºC and 22ºC for 10 days. Clean and bright. Aromas of great intensity fresh fruit and red berries. On the palate is fresh, full and with a pleasant finish.

Our Price: 12.57

2007 Canals & Munne Insuperable Reserva

40% Macabeu, 30% Xarel-lo and 30% Parellada. In the light of its aging, this cava is excellent value for money. 25 months. Brut (Reserva). Fine bubbles forming multiple strings of pearls and persistent rings on the glass. Pleasantly fresh, floral and varietal aroma. Brut: Aperitifs, smoked meats, Iberian cured meats, green salads, vegetables, fish, poultry and desserts. The rich, mouth-filling Insuperable Brut Reserva has been on the lees for 25 months. It shows light honey biscuit aromas on the nose and offers a fine mousse and clean palate of brioche, citrus, and almond flavors. Great value!

Rossinyol Rose de Moragas

Low temperature wine making, preserves fruit character, from Fermi Bohigas. 100% Trepat, in cellar for a minimum 1 year before disgorgement. Trepat is indigenous to north-eastern Spain. Now best known for making clean-tasting pink cavas like this. Fresh strawberry fruit on the nose, with some cranberry, more brambly fruit, a bit more heft on the palate with currant & cherries, cassis. Nice mineral backbone. Light bodied, balanced, very light pressure used to press the grapes, so it does not pick up much tannin there. Nice tangy acid. Great with braised chicken dishes, grilled chicken pasta. Sun-dried tomatoes a nice counter. Great aperitif, can work with salads, rice dishes, even pizza!

Our Price: 17.57

2009 Bodegas Bleda Divus Monastrell

Jumilla - Very intense and deep cherry red color with purple glints. Very bright nose aromas of spices, red and ripe fruits. In the mouth it is tasty and rich; very powerful with good acidity and well-joined tannins. 90 IWC - Opaque ruby.  Powerful dark berry and spice aromas show very good clarity, with a floral quality emerging.  Brighter red fruits come up with air and carry onto the palate, which shows a supple texture and a note of candied violet.  Finishes silky, sweet and quite persistent, with a repeating red fruit note.
