Tasting Lineup

Greetings!

The wines of Vina Ijalba are back after a long absence from our shelves.  Tomorrow we will taste the Livor red and Genoli white, which were a staple for East End Wines customers a few years back.  Also in the lineup will be a 100% Graciano and a value-priced rosé.  Notes below.  Come check them out!

These emails are archived on the website; they can be accessed through the "current and past newsletters" link at www.eastendwinesatx.com. The weekly wine update is also tweeted, so if you are interested, you can follow us through the link below.

Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2011 Vina Ijalba Genoli White Wine Rioja

Organic - 100% Viura, nice brightness & mineral - nose starts a little shy in regard to fruit, (citrusy), then bounces back with a bit more mineral and lemon curd. A bargain. Floral & fruity on the nose, medium body, broadly textured, medium length finish. Versatile, especially good with tapas and appetizers.

Our Price: 11.97

2010 Val de los Frailes Rosado

Bringing back for the tasting what had been a popular steal of a wine for the rose section. Tempranillo based, great aromatics & big fruit. Strawberry at the fore, stone fruit, brambly blackberry, floral, fennel background. Balanced, with juicy acids.

Our Price: 7.97

2011 Vina Ijalba, Livor Tempranillo

Organic - Line priced with the white - Cherry, juicy, softer, easier Tempranillo. Good to bring back. From the Rioja Alta sub-region of La Rioja. Fresh & tasty juice, clean aromas, with ripe red berry fruit & a bit of fennel frond, creamy. Dry, with round tannins and ripe fruit. (with 10% Mazuelo).

Our Price: 11.97

2010 Vina Ijalba, Ijalba Graciano Rioja

Organic - Aged 12 months in French oak. Lighter, focused. Lean, grippy, and cool to have. First Graciano to be bottled on its own in Rioja (1995) (It would have been the first in the world, but for the Brown Brothers in Australia). From Rioja Alta. A darling of the critics. Very enjoyable. More mineral & mint, less chocolate than a Cabernet Sauvignon, to which it is sometimes compared.

Our Price: 21.97

10% off of 4 bottles of wine

15% off of 12 bottles or more of wine
