Friday Night Tasting Lineup
2010 Torre di Luna Riesling
Trentino - Alto Adige. 88 International Wine Cellar - "Pale straw-green. Pungent nose is archetypical riesling, displaying green apple, white flowers and strong notes of flint and kerosene. Then surprisingly light and lively on the palate, with good concentration to the white stone fruit and lemon-apple flavors. Finishes soft and supple, with decent length and complexity. This is a remarkably accomplished Riesling, a variety that few producers manage to do well in Italy."

2010 Lechthaler Pinot Noir
Trentino - Alto Adige. The founders of Lechthaler moved from western Austria to what is now Italy's Trentino region in the late 1800s and began supplying wines to many of the area's best restaurants and hotels. Though the winery is no longer family-owned, it still makes graceful wines at modest prices, among them this light-bodied Pinot full of dried-cherry notes. What's with the burned label?? The Lechthaler dragon label commemorates the legend of the monastic hermit St. Columba slaying the mountain-dwelling dragon many centuries ago. TRENTINO, Italy, the most northern and mountainous region of Italy, offers a cool mountain climate and rocky, mineral-laden soils. These extremes result in easy-drinking wines with lively personalities, perfect for fall: 100% Pinot Noir aged in oak for 12 mos. Ripe strawberry, raspberry and violet aromas. Dark cherry and berry flavors, dried cranberries. Enjoyable, easy-drinking red with a smooth, pleasing finish. Best paired with dishes of pasta, risotto, chicken or turkey, soups, and vegetable dishes.

2008 Torre di Luna Cabernet Sauvignon
Toast - Wines by Taste - "Intense ruby red color. On the nose it presents clean and intense aromas of fresh, ripe fruit, red berries and hints of spice. In the mouth there is a good correspondence to the nose, with a good structure and nice tanginess. Tannins are smooth and sweet with a nice long finish. It pairs very well with all red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses."
