Friday Night Tasting Lineup

2011 Gassier Cercius White

Straw yellow with soft green highlights. Very aromatic, predominantly aromas of citrus, flowers, and flint. Medium bodied and crisp, pairs well with roasted monkfish, paprika grilled game hen, and goat cheeses. Blend: 70% Grenache Blanc and 30% Sauvignon Blanc. A fantastic value from one of the more dynamic, quality-oriented producers in the Rhone region. Near the ancient city of Nimes, the legendary mistral winds of Provence -- "Cercius" in Latin -- sweep over the vineyards and out to the Mediterranean Sea. These cool the grapes and help to maintain it's liveliness-- further aided by vinification in concrete tanks.

Our Price: 12.97

2010 Colette Regnie

(Organic) 100% Gamay (old vines) Wine Authorities - "Firm black cherry / lip-smacking cranberry / flinty elegance. Fresh and juicy, yet broad-shouldered and with a deliciously serious (and seriously delicious) structure, this Régnié from Jacky and Evelyne Gauthier (presumably no relation to the singer) embodies the contradiction between guzzable lightness and admirable complexity shared by many of the best wines from Beaujolais. Serving Suggestion: Smoked rabbit loin in a dried cherry reduction with chopped saucisson. Tartin of Morels with pearl onion and Comté."

Our Price: 18.97

2009 St. Roche Lafarge Chimeres

This 30 hectare property is situated near Maury, in the Agly valley. Using modern winemaking techniques, winemaker Jean-Michel Lafarge captures the flavor and concentrated structure of the fruit produced by old, low yielding vines. Chimères is a French word meaning "utopic dream". This wine is deep red in color with a perfumed black and red berry bouquet. The palate is juicy and concentrated, with the spiced strawberry fruit of old Grenache, berries and a touch of vanilla which gives an appealing, mellow character to the wine, alongside the ripe tannins and supporting firm acidity on the finish.

Our Price: 18.57

2011 Henri Bourgeois Petit Bourgeois

Its bouquet unfolds with notes of red fruits & black currants, blackberries and wild strawberries dominate especially. The accent typical of Cabernet Franc results from its spicy notes, which give the whole a special flavor. This wine is an ideal accompaniment to grilled red meats and a variety of cheeses. The grapes for this "small" bourgeois grow on the slopes of the Loire Valley, which are classified as "Vin de Pays du Val de Loire". For 10 generations. Jean-Marie Bourgeois and his family work with their team has 65 hectares of vineyards in the best vineyards of Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and the surrounding appellations. The operating philosophy of the family comes to the self-chosen motto "Un Art, une passion, une tradition" (an art, a passion, a tradition) is well expressed and implemented in all areas.
