After School Tennis Club

After "Fresh Courts"

Last summer our Irvingdale Park tennis courts were chosen for renovation by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and American Express "Fresh Courts" program. The project took place during the fall and included resurfacing, permanent 36' courts for children, blended lines on the full courts, windscreens, and a shade structure.  Now our neighbrhood has quality public courts for everyone to use, and for children to have dedicated courts on which to learn and play.

Before "Fresh Courts"

During the summer months, Irving Rec. Center teams up with our friends at Woods Tennis Center to provide tennis lessons for children and youth in our day camp programs.  This spring we are launching a fun after school club program just for Irving Middle School students on Friday afternoons.  Students who are interested in participating should meet in the rec. center lobby on Friday, April 11 at 3:15.

Art Contest

Twenty-one Irving students participated in the Spring Art Contest sponsored by the rec. center's after school Art Club.  Thanks to all who participated and made it a success and congratulations to the following winners:

1st Place - "Earth" by Isabel S. (6th grade)

2nd Place - "The Meadow" by Maxine P. (7th Grade)

3rd Place - "N/A" by Alaina C. (8th grade)

Feedback

We work hard so every family we serve has the best possible experience after school.  Please consider taking 2-3 minutes to complete our brief Parent/Caregiver Survey.  This survey asks you to rate your family's experiences and identify the benefits you child has received from participation in our after school programs.  The survey is available online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/parksrecparent

Survey responses help us evaluate our efforts and make plans for the future.  Results are also used by City officials to make important budget decisions.  If you have any additional questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact me at 402-441-7954 or [email protected].

Take care,
